The Samsung 990 PRO with Heatsink SSD 2TB is an excellent upgrade for the PlayStation 5. Its impressive sequential read speeds of up to 7,450MB/s ensure that games load quickly and run smoothly, enhancing your overall gaming experience. The built-in heatsink effectively manages heat, preventing thermal throttling and maintaining consistent performance even during intense gaming sessions. The 2TB capacity provides ample space for a large library of games and content. Overall, the 990 PRO is a high-quality, reliable choice that significantly boosts the storage and performance of your PS5.

I picked up the SAMSUNG 990 PRO SSD for my new computer system. I will admit, it's been some time since I've had interest in upgrading but the reviews steered me towards the Samsung. The first thing I noted was how comically small (in a good way), the actual drive is. I was expecting a stick of RAM, not the internal workings of a thumb drive - it's so tiny.Overall, it was exceptionally easy to install, getting Windows 11 on it, minus the "need network connectivity" catch 22 was quick and since I've been using it for ~1 month with no issues, I am impressed with it's performance. Hoping to potentially pick up a second one as the prices drop. Highly recommend this drive.

Ok, I had a 2TB one in the PC. I filled it up with games and the regular stuff we all do. So I needed a bigger one. I saw there were no 3TB ones, so I had to get a 4TB. I don't do, the thing where you just have the OS on one drive, and install programs on another. I've ran into too many issues with that, and I care not to deal with them anymore. This on, once I cloned it from the 2TB over and increased the C partition to match, fit right in the slot, and fired right up. Just like it was supposed to be there, but with more space. With the heat sink, it adds to things, and I did have to sandwich the thing in between 2 screws to mount to the motherboard, due to the thickness of the heat sink as the regular screw wasn't long enough. But it works fine, and seems pretty speedy.

Bought this to increase my capacity and speed of storage on a gaming machine. The Samsung 990 Pro does EXACTLY what I want, and the cool black & Red heatsink is a nice touch... I installed the Samsung Magician software to monitor the drive, and it remains nice and cool (under 50-60c) even during heavy writing. - It's not the fastest drive in the world, but has excellent TBW capacity for a prosumer drive and I am very happy with it.

23 June 20241) SAMSUNG 990 PRO SSD NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen4 MZ-V9P2T0B/AMSold by: Amazon.com Services, Inc $169.992) Thermalright HR09 2280 PROSold by: Thermalright Direct $8.993) Noctua NF-A6x25Sold by: Noctua Cooling Solutions $14.95TLDR: Good M.2I decided to go ahead and put a heatsink on this. Heat has been, is and shall always be the #1 enemy to electronics. Unfortunately, heat dissipation engineering is often underrated, overlooked and badly done, if done at all. With this setup, it never gets above 30c during Samsung Magician performance test. Base mobo temp is 29C.Before attaching the HR09 I removed the sticker form the M.2, the silicone pad from the HR09 and applied Prolimatech PK-3 to the HR09. The picture shows TF-7 but I found that stuff way too thick and didn’t spread well. I used Acetone and q-tips to get the sticker gum off the chip tops. The bottom of the HR09 is steel and really needs to be aluminum but the chips are on top of the M.2 so that is where the most heat can be dissipated. I then attached an NF-A6x25 to the HR09 using some nickel wire. I also needed to augment the foam pad between the M.2 and the mobo. Without doing these mods, it was as if the HR09 wasn't there. My tried and true method of applying heatsink paste that works perfect every single time, no fuss, no worry, and gives visible indication it worked and that the paste isn't old dried out beyond it's shelf life: Every heatsink is always a mm or two wider than the object it is sinking. Simply run tape down the sides a mm or two in from the sides and spread paste on with a single edged razor blade. The narrow thin tape on the edges act like runners for the razor blade to skate on. Hold blade at an angle, it isn't critical, between 10 and 60 degrees doesnt matter. Then peel the tape off. Apparently I didn't take a picture of the HR09 when I did that so I am including a picture of the CPU heatsink done in the exact same manner to give you the idea. They really should include some narrow, thin cellophane tape and a single sided razor blade instead of a uselss spatula.Great drive for a reasonable price. Very fast.

This is doing exactly what I want it to - I replaced my old Samsung 970 Evo using PCIe 3.0 lanes with this one running PCIe 4.0 lanes, and I've seen a marked improvement in game and level load times. It's not a night and day difference, but going from a 4 second load time to a 2 second load time is pretty sweet and really makes your computer feel faster, even if the actual time it's saving you is relatively small.I already had the Samsung Magician software installed for my old SSD, so I was able to quickly use the cloning tool to copy everything over in a matter of minutes. Once I swapped the drives around in my system and made a change to the boot order in my UEFI, I was off to the races with this as my normal boot drive with zero impact to my Windows 11 install. If you're already using a decently fast PCIe 3.0 NVMe drive this isn't going to blow your mind, but as far as PCIe 4.0 drives go this is a great option and the upgrade is noticeable. Highly recommended.

Got this for my PS5 since I could no longer fit any more games. With the few new games that take advantage of the PS5's actual abilities I ran out of space on the stock SSD in less than a year of ownership of the system so after reading some reviews and balance cost vs capacity/speed, the 990 Pro came out as the efficient/reasonable choice!Install was a surprisingly easy with the only somewhat difficult part was taking off the side plate of the PS5 while trying not to scuff or scratch it once it pops off.No issues with heat but to be fair I don't really have the time for 12 hr gaming sessions anymore, probably the longest I've gone since the install was maybe 4 hrs & absolutely no issues since the install. The 990 Pro has fulfilled all that I've asked!

Going Samsung from now on with SSD’s. All my games load up way faster than my WD 1TB SSD. I got my Samsung SSD 4TB and both were easy to insert into the PC. However, Samsungs brand just seems faster and has a stronger build quality then WD.Read and write speeds are as advertised; well worth the money.

I am loving this SSD M.2. It is fast and has more than Enough Storage for all my games. It makes gaming smooth when playing multiplayer. The Price was just right for this.
