The reason why I bought the volume was because of the comic Splinter of the Mind's Eye, which has slightly more than the book does. In fact, Alan Dean Foster said that the first scene, the star fighter scene, was deleted from the book because it was originally a draft for the second Star Wars movie because of the possibility that Harrison Ford would not be in it. Star Wars was not expected to be a giant hit and space fighting scenes were expensive. So the scene was never in the book when it was published. Splinter of the Minds Eye was a beautifully drawn comic. Reminiscent of the movie. Almost as if it was referencing an actual movie. I also liked that little love story between Han and Leia. It gives a Valentine feel, don't you think?
