I am using it to drive a second monitor from a cheap laptop. The first monitor is driven by laptop's built-in HDMI port.I am no able to find any difference in terms of picture delay or picture quality between the monitor connected to the adapter and the monitor connected to the laptop. The main reason for purchasing this particular model is DDC/CI support. With this adapter I am able to control monitor's settings like brightness using a special piece of software. This feature is very handy especially in this time of the year when daylight is scarce and artificial light kicks in around midday. The only issue observed so far is that the monitor goes blank for a second when I connect a phone to a charger that sits nearby the laptop. The charger is connected to the mains, it is not connected to the monitor or the laptop. I am guessing the reason for this is bad EMI filtering in the monitor or the laptop. The fact that the HDMI cable is using fake ferrite chokes does not help either. I am guessing a good quality HDMI cable would prevent such interference, but I am yet to test this.

I recently decided I needed a second external monitor to hookup to my laptop. My first monitor was using the HDMI port on my laptop. Ports I had left were a USB-C and 2 USB 3.0 ports. Found out after purchasing the monitor and a USB-C to HDMI cable that my USB-C port did not support video output. Whoops! Thought I was out of luck, but did some research and found this little baby. I had an extra USB 3.0 port available and this was a simple fix to my situation, without spending a lot of money to purchase other adapters that had hookups I did not need. Downloaded the driver from their site, plugged in and viola! Up and running in less than 2 minutes. Now I have 2 external monitors. I did run a Youtube or 2 and also a Hulu show - no issues at all. I am not a gamer or heavy video user. Hopefully this will last. I am happy with my purchase.

The 2020 13 inch MBP can only do two external monitors (for me one 1080, the other 1440) with the intel chip, this device allowed me to power a third display (1080) which uses USB instead of the graphics chip.Note the driver CD is what is not supported on macOS, just download the DisplayLink drivers directly from DisplayLink's website. After the drivers are installed you can connect your monitor but it will be blank, you'll want then to open Displays on the Mac and you'll be prompted to allow DisplayLink Manger to "record this screen" - allow those permissions, relaunch DisplayLink Manager and your screen should then be functional.I'll also note that screen rotation is supported as well.

Even though this is one of lower-priced USB to HDMI adapters that integrates displaylink chipset technology, which is the best, it also supports DDC / IC allowing you to adjust your monitor is brightest in contrast and other settings from your computer! This means you don't have to fuss with the physical buttons on the monitor all the time to adjust the settings. This is highly convenient when your monitor is placed next to an outside window where the ambient light changes all the time. For a Windows computer use a program like nirsoft control my monitor. Also the benefit of this adapter is it has a metal case and does NOT emit horrendous radio frequency interference like other adapters do. Those other adapters annoyingly constantly interfere with Bluetooth mice and keyboards! Still, I suggest placing all USB 3.0 devices is far away from your computer that contains Wireless and Bluetooth. So, with this adapter, give preference to using a USB cable to extend the USB adapter to the monitor, instead of using HDMI cable. So in other words oh, you'll use a short HDMI cable and a long USB cable. Enjoy!
