In reading the prior reviews, I was concerned that there were some complaints that the patterns were hard to read. After receiving the book and as an experienced cross stitcher-the patterns are not hard to read. They are typical cross stitch patterns. All the patterns look very simple, things an experienced stitcher can complete in an hour or two. The designs are a little more simple that I was hoping for-I still think I will enjoy stitching them. I was most disappointed that the picture of the original team beaming up was in the book but there was no pattern. My biggest complaint about buying cross stitch books online is that it is impossible to flip through and see what is inside. I do not know that I would have bought this book if I could have seen what was inside.

As a long time stitcher, I have been spoiled into wanting only color patterns. I was pleasantly surprised that not only does the book have easy, well-crafted and appropriate Star Trek patterns, but that each one is accompanied by a quality photo (with episode title and all!) from one of the shows appropriate to the pattern's theme. I can't recommend this book highly enough.

I'm a big fan of Star Trek and I thought it would be fun to try a project. This is a GREAT book. The patterns are really innovative and fun. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the patterns are on the small side so it makes it a bit hard to count the stitches. Maybe more experienced people have a trick (enlarge them on a copy machine?). I spent about 5 hours with grid paper until I gave up. What was helpful to me was downloading a grid pattern maker on my iPad because you can zoom in and zoom out and change colors. There are a lot of them, I'm using StitchSketch. Once I got a hold of that, I spent all day trying ideas from the book. I was very surprised that 'The Needs of the Many..' is not in the book but they have great fonts so I was able to put one together. Worth the money.

This book is full of surprises because it is a book of Star Trek cross-stitch patterns that are easy to stitch. Thank you, Mr. Lohman, for no half-stitches and no complicated color changes! The artist/author was one of my Grandson Steven's favorite teachers at Crater High School and I was so delighted to get to meet Mr. Lohman at Steven's graduation. He is clever, creative, and inspires his students to go where no one has gone before. The patterns are easily adaptable, too, so you can customize them for friends and family like the one I did for a friend. Thank you, Mr. Lohman!

After hearing this book had been published I purchased it immediately. I'm a huge fan of Star Trek and I love cross stitch. I was really surprised by how appealing the way this book was put together. This book is fun to just flip through and read the quotes or look at the images of the characters. It was all really well formatted, from the fonts used to the spacey background images. That alone would make a this a great book for a Star Trek fan who has never tried cross stitch. The patterns themselves are easy to follow and I think there are lots of good tips added in for new cross stitchers, such as ways to have a neater backside of the piece or how to use waste canvas. I like the broad range of projects too, and that they don't focus on one particular series of Star Trek. The border around "He's dead, Jim," cracked me up once I looked at it more closely. I also love the suggestion of using the Padd pattern as a tablet cover. My favorite part of this book were the samplers at the end and all the mix and match pieces it provided for someone to create their own sampler. What a great idea! This book does a great job at suggesting ideas for how to use the patterns, but the create your own sampler part takes it to a new level. The only downside to this book is I can't decide which pattern I want to try first!
