Good value for money. I do find the capacity is small though. When oil is put to MAX level mark and chips lowered into oil, the oil barely covers the chips. I'm sure not recommended but I have put extra oil in so when the basket is raised, the oil level is just below the basket. I have checked that the oil level once the chips have been lowered is still at a safe level. So if anyone uses it the way I do, you do at your own risk (You have to be ultra careful these days as I'm sure you'd get someone saying ' You said it was Alright' ) - Sad society we live in nowBut that's how I use it, not sure why the mechanism to lower the basket does not lower in into the oil deeper as there is a good distance between the bottom of the lowered basket and the bottom of the fryer. Also a bit fiddly to drain , clean and replenish oil. But for the price I paid for it. I can live with that.

This is REALLY NOT a criticism of the retailer - their service was ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT!This is a review / criticism of the Russell Hobbs fryer. I have bought many Russell Hobbsproducts over many years.I trusted the company to provide a high quality product.I simply wanted a deep fat/ oil fryer, so my partner and I could indulgein chips once a week. So just two medium portions!(I don’t like oven chips!)This is advertised as a 2.5 litre deep fat fryer, which cooks up to a kilo of foodfor up to four people. VERY DECEPTIVE!1. The fryer holds only 2 litres, not 2.5 litres, if you fill it to the maximum mark.2. The temperature dial is useless. You have to turn it around nearly two timesto heat it up. If you just dial around to the temperature number, the oil remains luke warm.3. The basket (which is v flaky) is small and very shallow. It is impossible tolower a reasonable amount of food into the oil to cook.4. The instructions for cooking chips specify to put only two layersinto the small basket - barely enough for one person with an appetite,or perhaps three or four mice.5. The Box states that this can cook up to a kilo of food. I cannot imaginewhat this food might be - lumps of lead, possibly? You’d have problems squeezinganything weighing a kilo into that weedy little basket!I used this for the first time this evening. While peeling the spuds, and chipping, I tried to put the chips into the little basket (not anywhere near the fryer) intwo layers, and realised I would have to cook one (medium) portion at a time.So my partner and I would be eating at different times. (A bit like school - different sittings!)So nowhere near four portions!I abandoned the flakey, weedy basket, and put all my chips in the fryer without it, using mystainless steel scoop to put them in and pull them out. I’ve used a fryer before, but don’t recommenddoing this unless you’re used to fryers. The chips were v nice. (Partner is happy man!)However, I remain v saddened that a once highly reputable company has producedsuch a poorly made and described product.PS Does anyone want a small, flaky fryer basket - unused - for nothing ? 😀PPS I tried to put this review on Russell Hobbs’s own site, but their site‘refused’ to register a ‘one star’ review - I wonder why???

Lovely little appliance. Certainly does the job well. Takes a while to heat up but not an issue. The basket handle seems a little flimsy but it's held its own each time. My only issue is that the oil "holder" doesn't detach from the entire appliance so difficult when u need to empty the oil. I use a ladle to get oil out. The lid comes off which does help a bit.Overall looks good and will continue using it.

Plenty big enough for 3-4 large portions chips work well ,easy to clean , simple to use . There is nothing not to like with this fryer

Plenty of chips can be cooked in this chip pan. Warms up so fast and cooks really quick. Easy to clean, to empty and is not bulky at all. Can fit enough chips in to feed a family of 5.Amazing item
