I purchased this for my custom built PC. I chose the 2TB version. I use it to simply store large PC games. It does the job well, I haven't had any issues and the read/writes speeds are what you would expect from a SSD. I had no issues installing this, it fits in my case which is a larger one. It is not going to be as fast as an m.2 drive but the speed is neglible, I have one and for gaming it only really results in faster load times and faster transfer speeds. This is a proven SSD, a very safe purchase if you just need some extra storage for the massive games that have been coming out lately.

technology marches on. started with an 8-bay DROBO with spinning hard drives. then to a more compact 5-bay option with higher capacity and now to this. A silent, cool running, tiny SSD in USB powered enclosure. Transferred 6 terabytes of data from my old solution to this in record time. then backed up the new SSD over Fiber to my cloud solution - what took says previously was completed in under 24 hours. Assuming its robust and lasts, very happy.

Hi person thinking whether or not to buy this SSD. Enough wasting your time, here comes the review...Boom, it's a good quality SSD. It works, reads/writes (nerdy tech stuff) at a really good rate for the price so in terms of performance, this baby's gonna deliver.I bought one to update my HDD to a SSD on an older laptop to improve the speed. It went smoothly so I ended up buying 3 more for my other laptops. That's right, 3 more! (Proof in the pics baby!)Buy a "SATA to USB cable" to plug the SSD to your laptop cause this SSD doesn't come with one (That's a good thing. You don't need a new cable with each drive, that would just bump the price up unnecessarilly). Also, learn whether the SSD you need is 2.5 or 3.0. They're just slightly different sizes but your laptop may use one or the other. You'll need software. I used the "Samsung Data Migration Software" (Search it) to clone my older HDD to this newer SSD and had no issues except for one of the laptops because the software wasn't detecting the SSD. Each company: Samsung, Western Digital etc, has a free software but they don't like each other so their software doesn't detect ALL hard drives. I recommend downloading the Samsung Software first cause it's just so easy to use but, if it doesn't work (If you can't see/detect and select the old hard drive), download Macrium Reflect. You can trust this one, and since it isn't made by a name brand company, it won't be bias about detecting hard drives. As a bonus, search and install "Samsung Magician". It lets you look at the SSD after it's installed, check the performance and make sure everything's hunky dory. Love this app.The hard drive is amazing and easy to use. Oh, and one thing that might trip you up is if you clone your hard drive, install the new one, but a message pops up saying something like, "D: drive isn't detected. Make sure it's connected blabla..." don't worry, it's an easy fix. You most likely cloned the drive correctly but the drive simply got a different name (The letter is the name) so you have to rename it. Serch up, "Rename hard drive on windows 10" and you should be all set. Rename it, restart the computer, done. This drive's a good buy, you won't regret it, but leave me a few cause I might get some as a gift to speed up other people's computers.I did read a nightmare scenario on here about someone who received a package that looked tampered with and it ended up being some other hard drive and not the official one. I will include pictures of how the seals should look. it should be perfect and untampered with. if you notice anything that looks weird don't even open it call up Amazon send it back. don't take chances. that kind of thing sounds like it could happen to any product. I ordered four and was happy with the results so just be a careful shopper.I also included a screenshot with the actual read/write results of the SSD after installation. The results are good. it's the picture with the red and gray bar graphs going from left to right. the far left is the size of the file tested. the red line is how quickly it wrote to the SSD. The Gray line is how quickly it read the file from the SSD. The software is called "ATTO Disk Benchmark".

Highest capacity you can get but lowest-common-denominator interface (SATA3 / 6G) and I wasn't even able to quite reach the advertised speeds over it (reads and writes were 10-20 M slower without a filesystem and in the 400s with one). I still decided to keep it anyway. It basically performs as well as any SATA-based SSD does.My main apprehension is knowing it's QLC and won't have great total bytes written before it wears out. As with all QLC, it'll be better suited to less frequent and total write use cases (where you also don't need the absolute fastest reads but latency for either is a factor). It's very light, probably the lightest 2.5" SSD I've ever handled (I'm not sure if that's good or not). It's recognized and fully functional in Magician when attached via SATA (it either doesn't with any USB to SATA bridges, or not the ones I tested with). Trim/unmap (especially important on a QLC drive) worked via SATA but not my USB bridges (I'm not sure where the issue was because other drives in these enclosures supported trim/unmap). I did have some issues with the USB adapters in general (JMicron, Via, ASmedia) but I'm not sure if it was because this is the largest SATA drive I've ever tried in them and they don't handle it properly, if it was a power issue, or something else. Since it always worked via SATA, I chalked it up to low quality USB SATA bridge chips and/or insufficient power passthrough.

The product arrived earlier than expected and required a 1 time code on delivery which ensured it would not be stolen. The product arrived in a well secured box and was fitted snugly to prevent damage in transit. Upon initial connection internally, my computer was not able to detect the drive for setup. I tried to connect it externally and also was unable to successfully get the drive to be detected. After a call to amazon where it was determined a replacement was not possible (My only grievance). I took the drive to a repair center where I found out the drive was perfectly fine, both the cords I used were faulty. After using a different cord I got the drive to be recognized and set it up fully. So far the drive has been working perfectly with fast transfer and load speeds.TLDR: The drive is fantastic and works perfectly as expected. Make sure you check your cables and ensure everything is working on your end before blaming the drive right away.

I take a lot of photos and videos, so I need a lot of storage space. This SSD provides a huge amount of storage with very good performance. It will slow down if you copy a huge amount of data to it all at once, but in ordinary use you won't see any slowdown.Installation was easy, and my Dell XPS 8950 with Windows 11 recognized it without any problems. I just needed to partition and format the drive and it was ready for use. It's not as fast as an NVMe SSD, but the cost per byte is much better. It's much faster than a hard drive, although a bit more expensive. I used a

At nearly $600, the 8 TB Samsung 870 QVO SATA III SSD will put a hit on your wallet, but you have to expect to pay for this kind of speed. Installation was simple, the drive was little more than plug and play in the 2.5" drive bay on my Dell XPS 8940. But the again, I had two spare drive bays and data and power cables. Of curse your results may differ. This drive was a replacement for a secondary (data storage) 4 TB HDD that was coming very close to reaching capacity. Samsung provides a link to download their Magician software, ostensibly to aid in data migration. However, the software will only clone a drive with the operating system installed. So much for that.My first attempt at cloning was to connect the new drive to my computer via USB 3 cable and copying all of the contents before cracking open the computer and installing the new drive. If figured I would just copy the files over using Windows. Big mistake. There were errors and the process went on for two days and might have only reached 50%. I bought some cloning software and the process was still very slow. I got frustrated and then just decided to install the drive and follow the cloning process, however long it would take. Installing the drive and using the SATA interface made the process incredibly fast and the whole process (3.6 TB of data) was completed in about eight hours.I like that when I'm working, the only sound I hear from my computer is the ventilation fan and not the chirping of a hard disk drive.

Had a mechanical HD failing so I purchased a WD SSD. Failed within 6 mos so I purchased this Samsung on sale. No regrets. Excellent performance from this drive. Easy to install and the PC boots up in seconds! Bought a second one for my wife's PC and will most likely get one for my laptop as well. Great value for the price.
