The block is okay but some of my knives must have bigger handles so they will run into each other when in the block. It needs more space between the knife slots to accommodate larger knife handles. Otherwise it looks nice and should do the job fine.

This knife block is very attractive, high quality materials and workmanship. I was able to get three knife sets into this one block and save counter space. It's a brand name I've trusted for decades. Very pleased with the knife block. A great gift for someone with multiple knife sets looking to get organized.

Admittedly up front, this knife block is not for every one. If you have a large collection of knives that you would like to be able to access and to use more frequently, and if you are looking for a safe storage system, and if you do not have small children, then this may be a great solution for you.I carefully researched and finally selected this block after rounding up my knife collection and measuring the blade widths and lengths of each one.This block has 34 knife, 1 hone slot, and 1 scissor slot. I had 36 knives. I compared my collection to the available slot dimensions and considered blocks with fewer slots. In the end, I decided to go for the big one.The block arrived promptly, and was soon filled. The fit and finish of the block is excellent. It looks good. It is fantastic having almost all my knives in one convenient spot. I was able to remove three smaller blocks and bring some knives out of storage. I could not fit one large Chinese style meat cleaver, but was able to fit a smaller vegetable cleaver, both of which were seldom used along with other knives such as my boning knife simply owing to those not being readily accessible.It is a bit of a learning curve at first in finding the knife one is looking for and then making sure that it gets replaced in the proper slot. But that soon passes. The only issue is that both of us have had to learn where each knife goes, and then occasionally straighten out a misplaced knife.The footprint of this unit, while larger than either of the three individual knife blocks it replaced, it is a good deal smaller than all three combined. I had no problems finding a prime spot on a counter for the block and knives.I keep my knives very sharp by regular touch up with a Wicked Edge Knife Sharpening system and using the hone in between sharpenings to straighten and to burnish folded edges. The block does a good job in protecting the edges as all but the steak knife slots are horizontal. All knives are washed and dried after use before being placed in the block, which has long been SOP for us.I have some expensive knives and some less expensive, but nonetheless useful knives, but no matter which knife I need, I can lay my hand on it in an instant. I wish I had sought out and bought this block a long time ago. It took me a few days of gathering data and counting my collection and then getting over the sticker shock at the pricing. But now having used it for a few months, I am very glad to have the block. I wouldn't go back to my prior arrangement--that's for sure.

Then I bought a 12” chef’s knife and a 7” nakiri, both of which were too wide (2-1/4”) for my block. They lived for a year, sheathed, on my windowsill looking messy. Finally decided it’s time for a bigger block.I have 13 variously sized knives, plus a cleaver, steel, kitchen shears, carving fork and steak knives, that I wanted all in one place. It was going to be like a jigsaw puzzle, trying to accommodate them all. The biggest obstacle to my search was that few manufacturers or sellers bother to list the width of each slot under product information.A few wonderful customer-reviewers gave slot widths in their reviews, but there were sometimes minor discrepancies among them. Being off by a mere 1/8” could make or break a block’s workability for me. Finally, after hours of research, I ordered the Wusthof 17-Slot Block, only to find when it arrived that one slot was narrower than the 2-7/16” it purported to be. Back it went. The hunt continued.Then I discovered a review for the Wusthof 25-Slot Mega Block by “Examiner” that, bless him / her, listed the specs for all the slots. Turns out these dimensions were true, and the block worked for all my knives (well, mostly)! Here’s the good, bad and ugly of this knife block.GOOD:It actually accommodates almost all my knives, with a slot to spare. It is, however, one 1-1/4” slot shy of perfection for my particular set-up. My Global 5.25” utility knife just doesn’t want to fit anywhere. I’ve tried rearranging everything ten ways from Sunday and something had to give. So I’ve moved my kitchen shears back to the utensil drawer 😔 and the utility knife now lives in its place.BAD:The Wusthof label is crooked. Drives my OCD self crazy. (It’s a cheesy metal plaque; the label is not engraved or burnt in.) I tried to adjust it but the rubber cement-type glue just snaps it back into (askew) place. I’d try to peel it off but I’m afraid I’d damage the wood underneath.My massive Costco steak knives don’t fit. But hey, can’t win ‘em all. I really want all my knives in one place, so will look for some smaller ones and donate the oversized steak knives to Good Will.UGLY:Nothing! The acacia wood is beautiful. There were no scratches, dings or split wood. The slots seem cleanly routed. It’s not as ginormous as I feared. It’s heavy (unlike the 17-Slotter) and clearly is solid wood. Love it.I highly recommend this knife block, especially if you don’t have a lot of strangely sized knives to worry about.
