Where do I start? It has horrible battery life it lasted about a week. Its doorbell has to be connected to an Ethernet cable which means the doorbell is stuck in the master bedroom where the router is. AND MOST OF ALL the recording function is completely useless. It doesn't have 24/7 recording and only records when it detects movement. More like if it even detects movement as it has horrible movement detection. As do all their cameras. We use some other tapo cameras. The picture quality is decent for the price and we don't care as much about movement detection for those. But with a doorbell cam that records based off what it detects? It definitely matters.The camera only recorded 2 events the whole day. With constant people being in our front yard. What set off the recording? Not the people but two specs of dust that flew by the camera.TLDR the camera only records during movement detection and it does a bad job at detecting movement. Battery life is about a week and it's non reliable

I've been searching for a new wired doorbell camera to replace my aging Nest Hello which I've had for many years. After purchasing one of the Tapo C120 cameras and being impressed with its features and picture quality, I pulled the trigger on this new wired doorbell from Tapo. So far it's working great. I installed a 128GB SD card and the install was very easy. The camera view has a much wider angle view compared to the Nest which is good because I can see more of my porch, but I don't love the fish-eye point of view. Person detection work great but I turned off the motion detection after the first night because just like every other camera I've tried, it kept getting triggered by bugs. The only other issue is the night vision shows a bright spot on the wall to the right of the camera along the wall in our porch. Is this doorbell camera perfect? No. But for the price I'm happy with it.

I recently swapped out all of my various Google Nest Cameras for Tapo models and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The Tapo D230S1 checks off almost all boxes of what I had hoped the Nest Battery Doorbell was. The image quality, field of view and color night vision is superb. The setup is easy and went very smoothly. I have had this for a while now and my battery life is still good. Most importantly, you can add a micro SD card to the hub and it records clips locally without having to subscribe to a service like Nest Aware for this feature. The motion detection is good, however, the range is maybe a little less than the Nest. The audio quality is fine. It's not great by any means but everything is audible and clear. I'll say that Google Nest Cameras crush the competition when it comes to audio quality. The aesthetic, while subjective, is not my favorite and, frankly, I think it's pretty ugly. It's boxy and clunky and looks like it was developed in the early 2000's or something. The latest announcement at CES 2024 promises a new design battery doorbell, the D225, which looks MUCH better and I will be scooping that up whenever it's released. All in all, I'm really happy with this and the rest of my Tapo Cameras.

I installed this to go along with my other Tapo cameras. It works very well and has many options to suit your needs. You'll need a WiFi network in order to set this camera up. It supports microSD cards and you can pay a subscription to Tapo for Cloud storage if you want. It even supports RTSP feeds into an NVR if you want to do that as well. However, IF you are using RTSP, you cannot use the microSD card at the same time. It's understandable given the CPU/Memory of the camera (it can't handle both at the same time). Aside from that, the picture quality is great and the options are endless. The AI works very well and makes pretty accurate detection as to person, vehicle, pet, etc.

There is a lot to like about this doorbell and overall its well worth the price.The biggest advantage is no monthly subscription. You'll still have to pay if you want cloud storage, but you can just store videos to a micro sd card if you want and you'll still have full access to all of the doorbells features without the subscription.The video quality is excellent and the framrate is very smooth. The field of view was also pretty good and I am easily able to identify who's at my door.The AI detection works very well, I like that I only get notifications if a person is at my door. Sometimes it will classify my cat as a person but that only happens about once or twice a week so not a deal breaker.The app is very easy to use and has great features. My doorbell connected to it without a problem and I was able to set the whole thing up in about 5 minutes. The app is also very responsive and video feeds load almost instantly.Overall I'm very impressed with this doorbell and Tapo products in general. I highly recommend this brand if you just want a simple camera system to keep an eye on things without costing to much. My last system was Wyze and Tapo is leagues better and not that much more expensive. Tapo cameras have way better video quality, a much less buggy app and doesn't require the annoying monthly subscription for useful features like human and pet detection like Wyze does.
