I bought this kit 8 weeks ago for my daughter and we still have more than 20 adults, three pairs of which are currently mating. When they first hatched there were so many there was no way to count them, I wasn't expecting at all. I took the decorative plastic wrapping off because it was full of air bubbles and we couldn't see through it very well. They are super easy to take care of and really fun to watch. I had no idea that they get so big, we don't even need the magnifying glass to see them clearly anymore. This might be a helpful tip: I used distilled water to set it up and use it to top it off when needed. Also, if you are impatient like I am, when you first set it up and put the eggs in, don't look at it until the third morning so you won't spend the first two days being disappointed.

I bought 2 of these. 1 as a gift and 1 for our kids. I was highly disappointed when only 10 aqua dragons hatched and only 2 lived longer than a week. They were fed and taken care of when and how instructed. I reached out to see if the one we gifted had better luck but learned they had the same experience. My kids still loved the experiment but were sad it did not last long.

I bought this for my sons for Christmas and was excited to give it a try. Two months later, we have several mature aqua dragons who mate regularly. I had actually bought a second set, because I thought the LED lights weren’t working on the first one I received. Instead of returning it like I meant to do, I stashed it in a closet and forgot about it. A couple of weeks ago, we pulled it out of the closet and decided to get a second colony going. Even more of the eggs hatched this time and we had HUNDREDS of babies within 24 hours. The colony has dwindled some, but we have many that are currently growing to maturity. My kids love watching them and so do I! These are fun and if you follow the instructions, they do pretty well! A couple of tips — be sure they’re in a warm enough spot if you live in a cold climate, and USE PLAIN BOTTLED SPRING WATER!!! I used a $1.29 gallon jug of “spring water” from Walgreen’s to fill both tanks, and both sets of eggs hatched quickly and successfully.P.S. the LEDS on the tank are working perfectly. Must have been user error. 🤷‍♀️
