I just recently finished all the seasons and now. I am obsessed with anything that has to do with GOT. This book is very much worth you're collection and a good read.

This is a great overview of the complicated and epic television series, providing just the right amount of context for each character and subject to understand this world. It's loaded with pictures and insight on the HBO adaptation. It is not intended as a treatment of the novels that inspired the series, as they carve their own path and require their own independent analysis. Many of the summaries recount what you watch on the series, which seems redundant, but they add historical context and details that you may have missed or were unable to piece together due to your senses being held hostage by the impressive sets and costumes, the extraordinary special effects, the terrific acting and the sharp and witty dialog.

I have the other books for seasons 1-2. and then 3-4. This is really terrific for anyone looking to better understand the show. To reiterate, it's a guide for the SHOW, not the books. That is an important distinction because, if you're buying this hoping to better understand GRRM's books, this isn't that. It breaks down the show, and I found it insightful for a number of reasons. For one thing, like most fans, I HATED how the show ended. Season 8 was rushed (I liked the first three episodes, not the others), and I often felt like the characters were doing things that were rather, well, out of character. In that aspect, this book helped me to understand a few things, which I won't spoil here. It actually, at times, breaks down why certain characters did -- or did not -- do certain things, especially towards the end. For that reasons alone, this book is worth it. Beyond that, It's just really well done and has charts, graphs, maps, you name it. There's a page that breaks down all the dragons and what makes then each special. Same with the Stark direwolves. You'll find family trees too, timelines, and a bunch of other neat stuff.Overall, I highly recommend this any any avid fan of the show.

I know I’m late to the GoT game, but I recently embarked on a mission to watch them all from start to finish. In my hardcore-ness I decided I needed a reference book to help me figure things out. This books has TONS of information, very easy to read but helpful in understanding and clarifying what is going on and who is who. My boyfriend who has seen the entire series multiple times also enjoys looking at it, so it’s not just for newbies. I definitely recommend!

I have a bone to pick with Amazon which I will add to the end of this review, but first, the book itself. It is a photographic masterpiece that included more details about the HBO series than I ever expected. Details from family photographs to brief sketches of friendships & relationships to other details like the various crowns worn by the Baratheon-Lannisters to the various weapons used by various characters. There were also details included like brief writings about the various regions influencing culture, religions and politics. This book among several approved by George R.R. Martin lead me to marvel over the imagination of this talented author to have created such a detailed world where it felt very much like historical fiction. This photographic memorial to a great series is a wonder to behold. And now my bone to pick with Amazon itself. Chronicle Books, the publisher of this terrific book, has earned a reputation for producing great quality books (especially for the price range), from the quality of the artwork, the paper used and the quality of it’s binding (as someone who repairs books as a hobby, their endpapers barely leave evidence of mounting [no creases on edges nor corners]). For this reason, Amazon could have, at the very least, handled this book with better care. I received mine damaged at the top & bottom of the spine and every corner of the hardcover (front & back) were curled in. It appeared as if the book was dropped and had no protected wrapping (i.e., bubblewrap) to protect the integrity of this thoughtfully made book. I deserved better as a Prime member!
