This edition is out of date, I see an updated version will be released early 2017 and I plan to buy it when it comes out. I'm studying for the CWNA exam and this text complimented very helpfully the official study guide. What the CWNA didn't make clear, this text fille din those blanks and even exceeded the course content by providing the minutia of the 802.11 process.

This book is a very detailed and mostly thorough description of 802.11 wireless networking. The author clearly describes the protocols and how they are typically used, plus various wireless network topologies, and even information about deployment such as antenna types.Where the book falls short is that it was clearly written before the growth in popularity of "wireless controllers" or "wireless switches", and the auther says almost nothing about them or how wireless networking works when using a wireless-controller-based network. There also was not much information about wireless network management, although that might be beyond the scope of this book.

This book I bought when I knew nothing about Wireless Networks. It taught me valuable skills i use in my job. I'll have to give this book 5 out of 5. It is written good. I could understand it unlike other computer books! This is one of the best on books on 802.11! I recommend it!

My company specializes in wireless security, cryptologic consulting and computer forensics, and this book (and its predecessor) are required reading for all of our staff. While not as technical as some of the Planet 3 books for their CWNA, CWSP and CWAP, it covers 90% of all the information a wireless network administrator or technician needs. The only problem with any book of this type is how rapidly the technology changes. The first edition of this book, published in 2002, was out of date within a year or two. During that time, however, it was the best single source of information for the non-technical to moderately technical reader.Buy it!
