Mattel Disney The Little Mermaid Deluxe Ariel Doll with Iridescent Tail, Hair Jewelry Beads & Doll Stand, Inspired by the Movie

I preordered this deluxe version of Ariel because I was so impressed with the facial molds and level of detail on the budget line. Her packaging is great, with an undersea printed scene background for the doll and a short synopsis of the character on the back. There is also a QR code on the back that links to what will eventually be the soundtrack (currently it is just a snippet of “Part of Your World).First, the positives. This doll has a removable cloth tail and fabric top. Both pieces have a holographic scale print that picks up the light beautifully. She is fully articulated with 11 points of articulation. She also has a fun stand that looks like a waterspout, a gold shell crown with lots of printed details, and several fun baubles and accessories woven through her hair. Best of all, she has well rooted eyelashes that are much better quality than the recent Monster High haunt couture dolls from Mattel.On a not so positive note, while this doll is very pretty, I don’t feel like the limited additions are worth the price point of $45. The cloth tail and top are thin and unlined, and her hair accessories lead to unnecessary tangling. While I appreciate the stand, it is very difficult to properly display her tail when you put her on it. I also found her hair to be shorter and not as high in quality as I expected for this price. Also, in my opinion, this particular face mold does not resemble Halle Bailey as much as some of the other versions.Having said all that, I am still thrilled to have this doll in my collection. It is great to see Mattel attempting to make a higher quality doll, even if there is room for improvement.

I really wanted to buy the Disney Shop Limited Edition Ariel doll, but it was $150, and on top of me not having a lot of money right now, it honestly didn't look fully worth that price markup. I'm so happy I found this one instead; she is very well-made, and at a much more reasonable price. While the LE doll had a slightly better face mold, this one still looks remarkably like Halle Bailey as Ariel.I absolutely love the stand that comes with this doll, and her tail is beautifully done. The sparkly fin looks great, and mine didn't have any cracking in the sparkles like some people complained about. Her hair isn't perfect, but it still looks really good. The frills on the edges of her top and tail look even better in person than they do in pictures; I'm just so impressed with how high-quality the clothing on her is.The 'gold' jewelry is the only thing slightly out of place on this doll. Regardless, it still looks good on her. I think the color was a good choice, as it goes with her hair and skin without standing out too much.I was honestly very excited to take her out of her box and display her on the awesome stand she comes with, but the box she comes in is the perfect display piece, with a beautiful underwater background to make her look like she's swimming. The box looks a lot like the Limited Edition doll's box, with an elegant cutout around the window display. I may just keep her in box forever.For $45, this doll is a great size, and very close to perfect. Any fan of The Little Mermaid should love this Deluxe doll. Now that the Limited Edition doll is sold out, this is absolutely the best quality doll you're going to get of Ariel. I cannot recommend this doll enough. She is a must-have for any Little Mermaid collection.
