There is an issue with freesync in this monitor that LG has even admitted to on their website. When gaming and using freesync the screen will randomly flicker black. Turning freesync off will fix the issue however for the price you have to pay for this monitor having to turn off one of its key features to use it is unacceptable. I would not recommend purchasing for gaming use until the issue is resolved. Other than that issue it is a nice monitor, good picture and colours but the value for cost is just not there at this time.

The problem with all of LG's high-end monitors is that incredibly basic software features - like automatic input switching or the simple ability to *turn back on* from sleep (incredibly niche, I know) are either missing or completely broken. LG's buggy DisplayPort Deep Sleep - and the inability to disable it - means that if your monitor goes to sleep, it displays a black screen until you UNPLUG it. Every. Single. Time. They also removed automatic input switching from last year's model for no good reason. Both of these featured *sort* of worked on the older 27GN950 after a bunch of firmware updates. This "improved" model has regressed in both of those areas to the point where it's less reliable than my $300 Dell junker. A firmware update that was supposed to address the deep sleep issue (but not automatic input switching) was available for one day before being pulled by LG, and nobody from the company knows when it will be reinstated. Incredibly disappointing for a $1,400 monitor to be almost completely unusable.

I almost didn't buy this monitor due to the issues mentioned in reviews. However, I took the chance and couldn't be happier that I did. All the previous issues have been fixed in firmware updates, making this monitor almost perfect. My screen also has almost no backlight bleed, no dead pixels, and is absolutely stunning. The text clarity is as good as my iMac 4K retina screen, but this monitor is even easier on the eyes. I suffer from migraines, so the 100% flicker-free backlight was a huge selling point for me. As a web developer I can look at this screen all day and have very little eye fatigue, and for games it's just plain mind-blowing.The only two things I would change are:1) It doesn't have auto input select, so you have to manually select which input source you want to use. However, this is just nitpicking because it's really quick and easy to do this.2) The RGB back light comes on every time the monitor wakes up. It goes off again, as I have it set to off, but it would be nice to be able to disable this completely. Again, just a minor thing.UPDATE: Oct 2023 - This monitor is still just as awesome as the day I received it. Zero issues. Zero eye strain - even on those very long coding marathons. Plus it's spectacular for gaming. Almost too spectacular - I've had to adjust graphic settings lower at times because my body thought the motion was real!

Really great HDMI 2.1 monitor with awesome colors, great ergonomics and plenty of IO.Been using it with PS5 and Xbox Series S, love it!
