I don’t know what I thought I was going to read. Something tropey & simple, low angst probably, sexy vampire stuff with like, idk, a heroine with daddy issues who gloms into the hot vampire dude and they have to like, do society or something.This was twisty in ways I didn’t expect and I liked it. A lot. Like, really good ice cream you don’t have to share. Gonna read the next one and see what kind of nonsense the heroine gets into while trying to stay away from sucky men.I kinda want to kick the hero in the nuts right now he’s so emotionally constipated. Oh and the heroines ex and the chick who is obsessed with the hero can both go be disgusting together and hopefully fall off something tall into molasses or like, idk, a cat of peanut butter. Just something nasty. They deserve it.

The main characters inner dialogue literally whines and complains the ENTIRE book. The only reason I enjoyed it is because the story is interesting enough.. the mystery behind her past is the only reason I finished it.. she believes shes a victim and she’s a monster.. and she keeps whining about that back and forth.. lol. Not an attractive main character. She got all this crazy stuff going on around her and yet her self worth is the only thing she can focus on… it’s bazar…

I truly could not stop reading until I finished this book. The unique twist on vampire lore along with compelling and complicated characters made this “unputdownable”.I cannot wait to sink my teeth into the next one.

I liked the story and the different spin on a vampire society and vampire politics. No book however, has ever left me this in the lurch before! The whole book is one big cliffhanger and I was a bit annoyed, especially considering the next one isn't out yet. Because it peaked my interest, I won't ding my review because the book kept me entertained and interested. I hope we can wrap up a few things in the next book that 've already pre-ordered. The main male character seemed rather cliche', dark, brooding, arrogant, but also apathetic. Some of the lesser characters were memorable, mainly speaking of Tansy. She reminded me Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series. I'm very interested in where her story is going. Also, Zoey. I wasn't expecting what happened to Zoey and I hope we'll see more of her later as well. Aileen was not incredibly relatable, but that could just be because I'm older and she's only 21 in the book. I was actually surprised that there weren't any older (human years) vampires in the book. With age comes wisdom and calm and all of the vampires in this book were turned in their 20's. Just seems odd to me, especially if they are looking for intelligence and emotionally stable people. My 21-year-old can't even remember to take out the garbage! Anyway, I did enjoy the book. I just feel like at least one thing could've been wrapped up before the author dumped us into limbo awaiting the next installment.
