You need both connections live at the same time to activate the drone. DJI don't mention that but it is causing problems for some buyers. During activation the DJI app uses the internet connection to talk to DJI and the mobile phone connection to talk to the drone. This is bad programming by DJI.I live in an house with an internet connection but no mobile phone connection. If I go outside I have a {weak] mobile connection but no internet connection.I was looking forward to using the Neo but I am going to have to send it back to Amazon. Not their fault. It is DJI's.

After watching countless review videos I decided to purchase the Neo from DJI. Upon unboxing I was not surprised at how small the drone is, DJI trying to crack the whoop market. Setup was easy, I was in the air in under 10 minutes without phone or RC. The functions and control are simple and an added bonus the Neo connects to my RC2 after a quick firmware update. The camera is OK for mobile devices with a 1/2 inch sensor at 4k 30, anything bigger than a mobile the quality will suffer.I had the drone follow me which it did very well. Anyone comparing the Neo to a Mini 4 Pro or Avata clearly does not understand this drone. The drone is fun, for families, kids, walking and running! Hitting tiny gaps with fpv goggles is fun and that's about it. This is not a fast FPV drone, neither is it a full size Mini Pro drone, it's aimed at having fun with the added convenience of fitting it into your pocket and taking it out and flying instantly. All in, I'm very happy. Well done DJI, especially on the pricing.

I've had dji drones since the days of the Phantom 1, including the mini, mini 2, spark, tello and now the Neo.I always get bored and sell them within a couple of months, but I think this time the neo will be staying. It is so compact and lightweight, I mean ridiculously so. It can go in a jacket pocket and you forget its there. No messing around with cables and controllers. Just set the mode and away she goes. The quickshot processing in the app is excellent to churn out some really arty short videos with minimum effort.Video wise, I find the 4k really clear and nice. Weirdly the photos are a bit washed out and crappy. Strange as it's the same sensor, but hopefully firmware will improve this in time. It's coped really well with weather and I grabbed a couple of quickshots during a storm recently. It was a bit wobbly but still remarkably good considering.I've managed to crash it twice into trees doing helix shots but apart from a bit of green staining it's not missed a beat.I don't think we'll see a better drone in this price range for many a year so if you're on the fence just go for it.
