I am about an NC15 -20 skin tone and I ordered the shade 23. This makeup is not a cushion, it’s a cream, and I used my beauty blender to put it on. The pad that it comes with is basically a throw away. If you use a brush with this, you will still need to pat it in with a beauty blender. It goes on very nicely, creamy and sheers out, it blends very well so I think if you’re a shade off it won’t be a big deal. It comes with two tubs of cream- I went through my first one in about a month and I used this every day. It has a slight cooling sensation when you put it on, but it lasts about a second. This has a pretty dewy finish so I used a little loose powder to set it in my T zone. I think this foundation is nice to try if you have dry skin like me. I also liked the fact it has SPF 50 in it so I skip the SPF when I use this foundation, I think it would slide right off if you layer this over anything other than a light moisturizer on account of the dewy-ness. I still have to use a concealer for spots here and there like old red acne scars and my genetic dark under eyes. Would I use this again? I’m not sure. There’s nothing wrong with it at all but I just like trying new things when I run out of one.

I stopped wearing foundation when I was 19 because I didn’t want to spend my youth covering up my skin. Isn’t youthful skin supposed to be so special? So I put on sunscreen and cheerfully let myself forget how to apply foundation. But now I’m 29. And I work in an old building with really bad regulation of temperature and humidity/dryness and god-knows-what in the HVAC system. So I’ve developed dry skin with some red patches (haven’t solved it yet—I’ve tried lots of moisturizers and I’m still looking for the one). Otherwise, I’m very pale and yellow in tone. At worst, I look sallow and gray-green.I got a cheap luminizing primer by ELF to pair with this while I wait for “nicer” stuff in the mail. I don’t have any concealer to wear underneath the foundation right now.My first attempt with this cushion was streaky. I saw one reviewer who said that they will use a foundation brush from now on to avoid streakiness. I didn’t want to. In fact, I decided to try cushion foundation specifically to avoid face brushes. Then I realized that I had put it on wrong. I had patted it across my face almost like I would do with a stippling brush, then swiped as if to blend. And I had just kept patting it. The makeup has a cooling effect, and patting it in feels too nice. It’s addicting. I think it can be easy to overdo i application by mistake. Even though the coverage is light, patting foundation over itself a few times will absolutely give a caked-on look. Swipe first.Next day, I tried again. I pressed the puff into the product, swiped it all over my face first, and then went back over with the puff to pat it down. It looked much better. My bathroom lights are very harsh, and I couldn’t find streaks of foundation on my face. I even applied foundation around and under my eyes, but, to me, the foundation looked fine. It had not settled into a wrinkle or unevenly crumbled in that area.I went back over a red patch a couple of times and got sufficient coverage for me. I didn’t have any concealer on underneath, but the redness was dulled down. I noticed a flakey patch where my nose meets the rest of my face. This foundation is not drying, but it is not moisturizing either. I wouldn’t say it made the flakey patch look any better or any worse. I made peace with it because I haven’t had a chance to pick up a serum or whatever the hell will fix me.Everything looks bad in my bathroom, so all I knew was that my application was even. I applied some brown powder and brighter white powder to account for foundation’s natural tendency to flatten out skin tone, then a cheek tint.I got out to my car to drive to work, and I was very surprised to see my face in the rear view mirror. It looked good! Like I said, I did not have concealer underneath—but the circles around my eyes were very improved, almost gone.I’ll update with how this wears after today, but I’m really pleased right now.EDIT: I noticed some irritation growing over the past few days and realized this has aloe in it. That stuff irritates my skin really badly. :( I assume my layers of primer (as I was experimenting heavily with primers) somewhat held it at bay. I’m bummed because this cushion was everythinggg. It looked better as the day wore on. Seriously perf. I am so sad.

All photos in natural lighting—hope it helps. LOVE THIS! For reference, only other “foundation” I’ll wear is T***e maracuja tinted hydrator (30N Light Neutral). I don’t like heavy make up at all, the feel or the look of it. Skin is real—has texture/pores and that ok. I have some newer sun spots but I’m not worried about a “full coverage”. I’m in my mid 30s so important to me to have hydrating products that don’t just settle into and accentuate my wrinkles. Like anyone else, I want to age as gracefully as possible and not load my skin full of junk to speed up the process. Ive tried just about every brand out there from drug store to higher end, BB/CC creams you name it. I bought in #13 Ivory. I thought it might be too light—it is on the lighter side but I use a bigger foundation brush, couple swirls and do more of a tapping/stamping motion where I’d do concealer. It smells and feels like the most high end skin care products. SMELLS SO FRESH. I only use Korean skin care now so it made sense to try out a foundation too. I’ve now tried a few brands but really like this one. Goes on so smooth—you can see the moisture seeping out of the product which I think is fun and why it feels so hydrating. I use it more like a generous concealer placement wise—around my eyes, across lids and on cheek bones, sides of nose, maybe a light layer on my chin or middle of forehead. Then I have a liquid bronze/contour I apply for dimension. I wasn’t sure of the shade but glad I took the risk. It comes with two large pans of product you insert into compact and I have had for several months already. Great price as t’ll easily last me a year. Very light weight, bright glowy, I work out in this too and it still looks good even after sweating. Really happy with it and I feel good about putting it into my skin, enhancing my skin vs masking it. If you can find your right shade, incredible product. Picture of product on my hand is just swatched—not blended in at all so easy to buff out. Can do my full face in 5-8 minutes.
