I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL MANUAL CAN OPENERS OVER THE YEARS. WAS A RELIEF TO FIND THIS CULINAIRE ONE.CANS OPENED SMOOTHLY WITH EASEEVEN WITH MY PAINFUL WRISTS & HANDS.I HAVE EVEN PURCHASED AS GIFTS FOR FRIENDS WHO NORMALLY HAVE THE SAME DIFFICULTY. THEY ARE ALL AS DELIGHTED WITH THIS BRILLIANT ITEM AS I AM.SOME HAVE NOT BEEN BUYING TINNED FOOD FOR YEARS BECAUSE THEY LIKE ME COULDN'T FIND A MANUAL OPENER THAT LIVED UP TO WHAT WAS PROMISED IN THE ADVERTS. SO MANY TINS SEEM TO NOT HAVE RING PULLS THESE DAYS, AND SOME OFTHOSE THAT DO ARE STILL TOO DIFFICULT TO PULL OFF. THIS OPENER IS SO EASY & SAFE TO USE AND OPENS EVEN ODD SHAPED AND ANY SIZED TINS LIKE CORNED BEEF FOR EXAMPLE.I DON'T HESITATE TO RECOMMEND THIS ITEM AND HAVE PURCHASED A SPARE TO KEEP IN CASE THE MANUFACTUERS STOP MAKING THEM xxx

I have no idea what happened to this. My gf swore by it and it worked beautifully. It did have a weakness as it's mostly plastic so it broke after about 3 years, but the new one is nowhere near as good. It looks the same, but is not as effective at actually opening tins...

The can opener paradoxI felt compelled to draw myself away from solving legal issues and running my company to write about the humble can opener 😊A paradox is a seemingly absurd or contradictory statement or proposition which when investigated may prove to be well founded or true. The can opener paradox is: The more you pay above or below the Culinare Magican cost the worst the can opener you get.Why is this? Can opening requires a very simple well-built engineering solution which should result in a very low-cost robust product delivered at a moderate cost. Magican have achieve this with a simple quality solution at moderate cost that works beautifully and hence cannot easily be bettered. This means that the competition must do one of two things to compete either:1. Make a cheaper product of low quality. The problem here is that Magican are very low cost hence cheaper products can only be achieved by using very inferior materials and solutions.Or2. Make a shiny posh looking item that looks impressive and that hence costs more and does not work reliably. It does not work reliably because the competition has devoted their resources into making the product look impressive within a price band that will be accepted by the market. Hence, they have devoted little resource or none into solving the engineering problem.Magican are the best and at the most efficient cost per unit. You don’t need to spend a lot just buy a Magican opener and put the can opener frustration into the past. All products will wear out of course especially items that cut steel as this one does. But Magician works very well and is a low cost item to replace when it does eventually wear out.I am not associated with Magican in any way. Thanks for reading me… back to work now…have a great day. I must be unlucky, I guess - as I've got through a lot of tin openers lately. The only reliable ones seem to be those on genuine swiss army penknives and the tiny folding military ones. I broke the handle of one of these migican from repeated use - the plastic just snapped near the body. It had worn away part of the wheel teeth, but still worked over the remaining part of the turn. Which is better than the other makes and models I've experienced - that just won't grip the can to turn it, at all. This new one leaves the lid still attached to the body by s thin wire-like thread. No idea if that is intentional or not working properly.

My mother in law was in need of a new tin opener. She can be very particular about things so it was bo surprise when we had 5 in the cupboard and she was a still complaining.I had a look in here and found one like my nan had in the 80s, showed the MIL it and was glad to place the order. It arrived quickly and in perfect working order. Gave MIL a very quick demonstration and then just waited to see what she had to say about it.She was pleased as punch! She is getting towards being elderly now so easy use is imperative to allow her to have the self confidence to do these tasks and maintain her independence in as many ways as possible. It is light to hold, opens cans very easily and smoothly. It's Comfortable to use, straightforward and very easy to clean.Undoubtedly good value for money, it seems sturdy enough to probably last so long that it will likely be the last one she ever needs to purchase. Great item 👌
