VTech 573803 Sew & Style Unicorn Bag, Pink

I got this for my 6 year old, it's something different she hasn't done before, so it was fun for us to try it together!The instructions are very good, they show each step really clearly, especially how to sew the fluffy threads, so they are nice and secure on the template.There is a 20cm ruler pictured on the bottom of the instruction pages, so you can measure out the length of thread you need easily, no tape measure required. You will need a sharp pair of scissors though, plus a screwdriver and 2 x AA batteries, to operate the unicorn horn at the end.A few tips! Definitely use the corner of the cardboard needle holder to help you thread the needle, like it suggests, as otherwise it can be really tricky! Also, be prepared for lots of fluff, as lots of bits come off the thread.My little girl has really enjoyed it so far, we still have quite a bit to do, as we are going steady and taking our time with it, as it can be easy to go wrong. The plastic template is a bit awkward to hold, especially for younger hands, there's no way my little girl could do this on her own. I have to watch her very carefully, and help her as needed. I even think my 8 year old niece would struggle on her own, adult supervision is definitely needed, in my opinion.I will update my review once we have completed the bag, but so far it's fun, but a bit awkward overall.I'm excited to see the finished result!UpdateThe bag is now finished, and I think it looks really good! (see my photos)I was nervous some bits were going to unravvel, but it's a sturdy little thing, and very cute and fluffy.I had lots of thread leftover, which I will keep for other crafts, so don't be worried about using too much/or running out etc.The last steps adding on the eyes/horn were really fiddly, I had to take over doing that, and even I struggled! You have to line the parts up through the holes on the template, and secure with little plastic screws, but because of the fluffy material it was difficult.The bag is also quite small, and you wouldn't want to get it wet, so it's more of a dress up accessory.The interactive horn element is really good though, like you'd expect from VTech! There is an ON/OFF switch on the battery box, and at the back of the horn is a button with 3 different Modes, for lots of music/light fun, which your child can change by pressing the little pad on the horn.I'm standing by my 3/5 stars. It's a fun, different activity to do, but it is tricky, and I think the bag at the end is good, but not brilliant.

It’s a great way to develop fine motor skills and boost confidence.The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that some of the pieces, especially the small decorative items, can be a bit tricky to attach securely. Some younger kids might find this a bit difficult!
