I'm not often impressed by a product, but I was impressed with the Bigboy Folding Saw. I've been harvesting the roots of Cottonwood trees for some Native American friends who use them for carvings. The saw cut quickly and cleanly through even the thickest roots, that were about 10 inches in diameter. The trees were in a remote area, and the folding saw was easy and light to carry.

I have been wanting to buy a silky for many years now and I finally followed through. Although I received the product with really messed up packaging, I could not be happier. When I opened the Amazon box, I noticed that the packaging for the saw itself was torn and squished in a few places. I immediately contemplated complaining about it, but when I got the saw out of the packaging I was beyond satisfied. If the saw wasn’t such a magnificent tool, it wouldn’t have gotten five stars from me despite the packaging mishap.Now, I probably didn’t need to go for the professional model, but I appreciate the grip on this one immensely. Because of the composite grip, your hand doesn’t lose grip when cutting. I imagine the plastic grips on the standard models might allow your hand to slip in less than ideal conditions. However, I am still planning on getting the pocket model with the plastic grips for venison processing.In conclusion, the craftsmanship on these saws are insane. They are sturdy, sharp as heck and elegantly wicked. Silky will have my loyalty for the rest of my life. The BigBoy is a mean tree eating machine.

This saw exceeded my expectations. It is light weight and easy to use. I easily cut old dry locust wood. I now prefer it to my 20v chainsaw because it is easier, and less work and makes a smooth cut. I should add that I’m a 74y/o woman.This saw will go with me whenever I’m headed to the mountains.

The size, once folded is easy to travel with in the woods for trail work. The performance is is superb, given that it only cuts on the pull stroke. So far have used to cut up to 6" diameter with absolute ease. I am sure I can use this for larger trees and probably will. You could use this for fire wood cutting if needed. Construction seems solid and well thought out. I would not hesitate to recommend.
