I had by far the worst experience with putting up Christmas lights in my life while trying to get these on my tree - each LED comes off a small black "stick" that is much longer than a normal Christmas light bulb. I spent more time untangling the wires than I did actually putting the lights on the tree. When I was done, the tree was much uglier than ever before because of all the black wire everywhere - I guess it's too complicated for them to manufacture a version with a green wire. These lights may work on a railing/balcony, but a $10 strand of Christmas lights on a green wire (plus a $10 smart outlet, if you still want to turn them on/off using your phone/voice assistant) will look much better on a tree and save you hundreds of dollars.

They work wonderfully and are very beautiful! Philips Hue is always good, even if expensive! It all goes to show you get what you pay for, after the cheaper RGB lights I got didn't work at all.

Great lights and operate exactly as you'd expect if you're familiar with Hue products, their durability, and integration capabilities. You won't be surprised there.I had two main complaints with these lights, one of which has been improved on recently.1) App: Very lacking lighting effects. Until just very recently, there were only 2-3 options (e.g., candle, fireplace). These were very basic with limited customization (e.g., they were white light only, no modification of colors). If you bought these for lights on your tree and wanted multi-colored lights, static multi-color is all you could do. No multi-color sparkle or movement. Just this last week they've added more options. 10 different effect types with some preset colors plus the option to create a custom color, kinda... the modification ability is still VERY limited and you aren't able to, for example, pick 5 colors and then pick an effect and it work. No, you can pick an effect, pick ONE color, and it decides what supplemental colors will be included in the effect. Personally, with how long the Hue app has been out, and the expected use of these lights for outdoors / holidays, Philips is so far behind their competitors and it's frustrating.2) Design: So these are designed to be used indoors AND outdoors. With that in mind, I can't see how these were tested outdoors due to a very basic design flaw. Outdoor receptacles must, by most codes, have a very specific electrical box - you know, the ones with the little doors that snap back to cover the outlet when not in use. Well, the box on the string lights that plugs into the outlet is large. Really large. And it's too wide to fit in a standard outdoor receptacle box due to those little covers being in the way. So your option is to use a box that's not code compliant for outdoor use, remove the doors, or buy an adapter to extend the plug an inch or so you can plug it in. We went with the last option (Outlet Extender), but none were ideal and easily avoidable if the design had taken this very basic thing into consideration. Pictures included.

Yes, they are pricey but, all of their products are. Works well and provides ample lighting and multiple displays using Hue app.

Lights live up to the Hue standard. Bright, consistent colors with true greens. Sparkle and Glisten modes create great ambience.Yes, these are expensive. Yes, they are the best on the market.
