I just acquired the boots this week and they feel great, the rubber lining around the boot offers a better protection for your feet. Outside is 39º F and rainy in Illinois, the boots work perfectly with excellent sole grip. Previous years I was using the Columbia Firecamp boots, with good insulation and water/snow resistant, the midsole was softer but the did not have half sizes and using a heavy duty socks my feet felt too hot. This boots have half sizes, enough rough for bulky socks in case you need it. The mid sole is a little bit more firm than other boots and you notice it while you are standing for a long period of time. They are flexible enough for long walks.

One of the most comfortable well made boots that I’ve ever worn. Warm, dry, supportive, very comfortable, and the traction is amazing. Very pleased with this purchase. 🥾

First time get shocked by a pair of shoes. It fits me will, price great and worth it. Also looks nice! Logically, it waterproof, and I’ll try. Strongly recommend this one!

Great winter boots, especially if you want lightweight boots instead of bulky boots. These are warm and have good soles that seem to grip better than most boots on the market.

I have some mixed feelings about these boots - I am looking to replace some 20 year old Merrell "shield" aka "modified duck" hiking boots that finally split open. That is, a mid hiking boot that has a rubber lower section rather than just some version of Gore Tex. Like a Newton Ridge with Omni-Heat and Shell. The Expeditionist is about 2" taller than that, which puts it more in the snow boot area than the 'warm really waterproof' hiking boot category I'm really after. I'm not sure such a thing truly exists these days. The Expeditionist itself is light weight, very comfortable and warm-but-breathable, and of course slush proof. I will get some use from them, though I won't be tempted (I don't think) to put them on for just a regular fall walk, which is something I would do with the old boots. Given the limited opportunities to wear them, I would expect these boots to last many years and provide good service. I bought these 1/2 size larger than my usual Columbia size, for the bit of extra room and warmth that one needs with this type of boot. Note that the sizing is spot on, the added 1/2 size is exactly what I expected.I have worn these boots often now, in snow and rain and ice, and they are very comfy, warm, and give a secure footing. I'm even getting used to their height. If you need something like these, get them!
