Umaro Plant-Based Bacon (Smokey Black Pepper)

I love the taste of this bacon substitute. I really like the texture - better than actual bacon. It's delicately crunchy. Only thing I can compare the consistency to is Stella D'Oro toast. It melts in your mouth! This is truly one of my favorite foods now! It tastes like bacon but don't expect the texture to be just like bacon - if you're like me you'll like the texture better than real bacon! Only downside is it's not low sodium. A serving of 3 slices has 420 mg of sodium, 28% of the 1500 ideal daily limit. I get by with 2 slices since they're thicker than real bacon. The directions don't mention microwave. I put 2 slices on a paper towel and microwave for 30 seconds and it comes out nice and crunchy like I prefer it.

Hate to leave such a negative review as I am both vegan and gluten free and was so looking forward to getting this. So glad I only bought one! I follow the directions exactly and they were greasy, rubbery, salty and gross!. I looked at the packaging (which I should have before ordering) and there is no nutritional value and 19 g of fat per serving! I am a chub and don't mind fat but there is no protein or anything else but salt.

This is absolutely DELICIOUS!! The BEST vegan bacon ever. The flavor....the texture.....tastes just as I remember real bacon to taste (without the harm). It was easy to cook - the first time I made it in a frying pan, the second time in an air fryer. You have to keep an eye on this bacon while it's cooking and keep flipping it - so it doesn't over cook. It is greasy....but so is real bacon (I don't know anyone who eats bacon for the health benefits). And anyone saying they didn't like the "texture " did NOT follow directions (and the directions are not that difficult?). It is SO melt in your mouth crispy when you cook it correctly....just like the best real bacon. Absolutely delicious by itself OR on a BLT sandwich! The only negative I could think of is that I wish there were MORE slices in the package (there are 9). I will be buying again!!!

The Umaro Applewood Smoke Plant-Based Bacon was easy to prepare and really just needed heating up for most meals. I wrapped some around vegan cheese stuffed hot dogs and air fried with fries for 15 minutes and the bacon was crispy and a little chewy. But when I heated the bacon alone up at 200° in the air fryer it was perfect! It has great flavor, but it is much less salty than actual bacon. I didn't care for the plastic in the packaging and hope that this company can find something more sustainable in the future.
