I am one of those people who tends to use things until they completely wear out, and I had been using my old Braun Series 7 for maybe 3 years since it was still shaving okay. I started noticing it seemed to take longer to get a good shave, just took a lot more strokes over places I thought, and I finally bit the bullet and got this new shaver blade head. And WOW what a difference! I had just forgotten how much faster and more efficient your shave is when you have newer, sharper blades doing their thing. So I highly recommend you splurge on a new one if yours, like mine, has a few hundred cuts in its history. It's well worth the cost.

This is a good shaver. I've had it for about 2 years. It does have issues with getting the hair on my neck shaved. There are usually some hairs that are hard for it to cut. Overall it shaves the neck well, but some stray hairs are left behind. The shave is close, but not as close as a blade. I can feel some roughness when I stroke my skin. Would give the shaver 5 stars if it did a better job on my neck hairs. I'm hoping the Series 9 will be better at this, but with a 7 year warranty on this shaver it will be some time before I can give the Series 9 a try.I've found the main factor in the blade getting dull is using water. Water oxidizes (rusts) the blades and dulls them. You won't see any rust on the blade, but you'll notice after a couple months the blade won't cut as close. When I started using the shaver I was cleaning the head under the tap, then running it through the cleaning cycle. Over time, the water left over from rinsing dilutes the cleaning solution and affects the sharpness of the blade. I've tried making my own cleaning solution using Isopropyl Alcohol and essential oils, but the Isopropyl Alcohol has water in it. You can tell if your cleaning solution has water in it if the hair sticks to the foil after running it through the cleaning cycle. Braun's cleaning solution is very good. It lasts me about 3 weeks using it every day.The best way to tell when to change the cleaning pack is by looking into the cleaning station where the shaver rests. As long as you don't use water to clean the shaver, hair will not stick to the cleaning station or foil. Once you see hair begin to build up on the cleaning station, it's time to change the pack. This will be a couple days before the indicator warning light for the amount of cleaning solution comes on in the cleaning station. At this point, use a q-tip and rub around the cleaning station to loosen the stuck hairs. Put a fresh pack in and run the cleaning cycle. You're good for another 3 weeks. When I'm done shaving, I just put the shaver into the cleaning station and press the button. So easy to keep it clean and sharp. The cleaning station is a must have for this razor. They have done an incredible job on designing the station, the formulation of the cleaning fluid & the design of the cleaning cartridge to capture hairs. They have a honeycomb pattern in the bottom of the cartridge, a mesh filter inside the cartridge and baffles inside to filter out hair when the cleaning solution goes into the station for cleaning.I'm prone to ingrown hairs but do not have a problem with this shaver. Most likely this is because it's not as close as a blade. The blades seem to last about 3 months and not 18 months. I use this to shave my head, so 3 months for me is about 6 months for someone who only shaves their face. I've never gone to 18 months before changing the blade. In the past, I was using water to clean the shaver after every shave. I'm now trying never touching the razor with water and only using the cleaning center. I just passed three months using this method and feel like the blade is still sharp enough to shave. My goal is to get the blade to last until the indicator light comes on. Will post back if it lasts until the indicator light by not using water.

Bought a knockoff, thought I would save some money. Boy was I wrong! Other brand was low quality, didn’t shave well and fell apart quickly. The Braun blades are worth the money! A quick smooth shave in less time! Quality materials andCraftsmanship. Again worth the price!
