The WD_BLACK C50 Expansion Card for Xbox leverages the Xbox Velocity Architecture and delivers the same performance as your Xbox Series X|S internal storage As game file sizes grow, capacities from 512GB to 2TB* let you keep more of today’s top titles installed and ready to go. (* 1GB = 1 billion bytes and 1TB = 1 trillion bytes. Actual user capacity may be less depending on operating environment.) This officially licensed Xbox expansion card is plug-and-play with your Xbox Series X|S, so you don’t have to worry about compatibility or opening your console to install. The expansion card’s slick, industrial aesthetics deliver the cool factor that WD_BLACK is known for and fit in perfectly with your Xbox console. Unlike solutions where you have to transfer Xbox Series X|S games back and forth to the console, the WD_BLACK C50 expansion card lets you keep games ready to play.

WD_Black 1TB C50Western Digital is top name brand. I expected it to work very well and it does.Installation: Plug this drive into the expansion socket on the back of a series S or Series X console. It will not work on an XboxOne or other older Xbox. Those use USB slots, which are about 20 times slower.I turned off my Xbox S and plugged it in. And turned on my Xbox S. There was a screen that appeared before the Xbox powered up asking me to choose one of two options. 1) use this new drive on multiple consoles. or 2) use this new drive on only the console it is now plugged into. I chose 2).Xbox S then booted up normally, and I selected the installation of MSFS (which takes up a little more than 200 GB). I then clicked on Manage instead of Play. The manage options included things like Copy or Move. I clicked Move. The MSFS game and all its saved data then moved from the internal storage over to this new drive. The speed was 5 GB per second. That is the same as 5 thousand megabytes per second. A lot faster than a USB drive at 200 megabytes per second. 25 times faster more or less. Now my MSFS game plays exactly as it did before at the same fps numbers and so forth. There is no difference how it used to play from the internal storage compared to playing from this drive.Xbox series S and series X external drives work like this: A usb drive will work to store things like songs and videos. And it also works for playing older games designed for an Xbox One or Xbox 360. Those old fashioned USB drives will NOT work for Xbox series X and series S games. But this is not a USB drive. Therefore it DOES work for all games and for anything else, exactly like the original internal storage. These WD drives seem to come in two sizes 500GB and 1000 GB (I TB). I bought a 1 TB drive. It works perfectly, without issues, and the only installation is to just plug it in! Of course you do NOT have to open up the Xbox case. The plug is on the outside, on the back, It is wide. You can't miss it!

I got this for my boyfriend so we could download more games on his Xbox X/S or whatever it’s called (I really don’t know). He literally plugged it in, went to the settings and added it as an item I suppose and immediacy it took it and said he gained the storage! I will say it’s not 1 full TB, it was like 966 or something of that range but that’s basically a terabyte no? Regardless it worked, he was able to download all his favorite games and the games we wanted to play together even though I’m not the biggest fan of playing (just watching lol). So yes! It works, it’s awesome and he was super duper happy about it.Im unsure of the price of what this should be on other sites or brands but I felt that this was worth it! He gets to download literally everything he wants with more to spare, it was super easy, convenient, and since he downloaded all the games onto the SD card itself (you can choose) if I’m right, he can take it out and bring it elsewhere and keep all his data. So points for compatibility and portability. The design is super sleek, literally can’t see it, and the quality is outstanding!

Summary: I have two consoles in two different locations, so this is real handy to move games and data back and forth. It just works; plug it in, it's recognized, data transfer is seamless and quick. i got it on sale, a slight discount, so watch for those. Kinda pricey otherwise, it seems to me.Quality of Materials:• Top notchQuality of Fabrication:• No issuesEase of Installation:• It's plug n play. (I should trademark that phrase)Suitability for Purpose:• Perfect. Helps to make data ultra portable.Packaging/Delivery:• As usual, Prime delivers fast and delivers well. Package was brand new.
