I had not read comics in years and never read Spiderman. I got Big Time #1 as a stocking stuffer and loved it! Fast forward a few weeks and I found myself up late looking at comics on kindle, Dying Wish is what I got next, blown away! I wish I had not skipped ahead, I have since been reading from Died in Your Arms Tonight and begun a few more titles. So pleased to have renewed my interest in comics. It's one of my favorite things to do unwind and escape. And thanks to Dan Slott

I have been an ardent Spider-Man fan from the days when you actually had to go to the comic book store or book store to get your monthly "fix". As a boy, I read and reread and reread the few issues I had until I had them memorized because it was so infrequent that I got a new one.Once I grew up, I was introduced to the wonderment of the TPB / trade paperback, which really allowed for a more immersive experience of "living in the story", so when I picked up ASM 700 (due to all of the media hype), I was lost after having read how Otto and Peter had switched minds / bodies and HAD to purchase Dying Wish.Over the years, there have been so many bad storylines which either went unresolved (The Clone Saga, to name one) or were basically said to have not existed (the awful J. Michael Straczynski's run with the Gwen Stacy and Norman Osborne's love children, which made me give up Spider-Man comics altogether for several years), so when the industry and media buzz started on this one, I wanted the full experience. To Dan Slott's credit, he did kill Peter (sorry, but there's no big shocker there) and he did it with style (think Kraven's Last Hunt with a twist), but he also did it with the full support of Stan Lee, which was vital to me because all later writers ultimately stand on his shoulder.Long story short, this is a superb tale of Peter being Peter with all the usual amount of plot twists and foreshadowing being interwoven from events months and even years ago to culminate in someone knew wearing the webs.Long live Spider-Man and the Marvel Universe!

First, don't read any spoilers. Unfortunately, others on Amazon perhaps have spoiled what happens. I will not. Since I went from regular issues to TPBs, I've been getting Dan Slott's Spider-Man since Issues 660, and likely have read since Issue 600, if not before. He has single handed revived many great villains and ramped up their characters, motivations and action. This book is the one of the best battles between Spider-Man and Doc Ock in the history of Spider-Man. If you've read other Dan Slott Spider-Man material, you must buy this. If you are new and started reading Superior Spider-Man, this is a great jumping on point. Most anniversary issues, nothing really happens. This is the exact opposite of that.He really develops Doc Ock's character and Peter Parker's history. He is able to reintroduce you to the secondary Spidey characters. The ending is bold and adventurous. After pioneers like Kirkman, I'm glad Marvel is taking real chances.

This is maybe the most suspenseful Spider-Man story I've ever read. Now, I never had a chance to read Amazing Spider-Man's start in the 60's untill just recently, so the shock value of earlier stories wasn't as powerful as it probably would have been as they were coming out, but still, this is a hell of a good story. Good? No no. This is excellent. Dan Slott had my heart either stopped most of the book, or beating so fast I couldn't tell it was beating.Humberto Ramos' cartoony-ish art is some of my favorite stuff as of late. I love his work.I can't recommend this enough. I loved how the book contains all 700 main covers of Amazing Spider-Man. Sure, they're tiny, 100 covers per page, but they're still cool to look at.Read Superior Spider-Man when you're done with this.

Dan Slott is the master of comic book writing. His stories provide a well thought out plot and strong gradual character development. His take on Spiderman is the strongest I've seen since Stan Lee was writing. I recommend this book above all other spiderman books because it is the finale. This book encompasses the final arc of the original The Amazing Spiderman series and begins Dan Slott's new series The Superior Spiderman. It brings an emotional end to my favorite hero who I followed since a kid, yet it brings a strong start to a new era. If you're a fan of comics this is a must read. If you are deciding on getting into comics I don't recommend starting here, but rather with Dan Slott's ends Of The Earth then this one just so you can follow the arc in its entirety and not be left asking questions.
