Saturday 5/18/19 This Neewer leveler is nicely machined and finished. It is unfortunate the two major issues voiced by others continue to plague the product. Surprisingly they haven't yet been resolved by Neewer. This could easily be a best seller a runaway best seller.I read many negative reviews and I was aware of issues of the inaccurate bubble level and the overly tight head movement but I went ahead and ordered this as it seemed to sit lower and also seemed lighter than the 3-times more expensive Acratech Leveling base. I am also not going to any cold climates where one person from California said it locked up and was even tighter. Someone mentioned it could not be taken apart. On the remote chance there was a hidden screw/bolt to find to start the disassembling, I chanced it with the hope to replace whatever substance was in there with Nyogel grease, not a lubricating slippery grease but one made for dampening movement of scopes and gamer's HOTA controlsThe inaccurate bubble level and the tightness of the product are issues I knew about. But decided to take a chance on this. Although loss of an accurate bubble level would be disappointing I had three other leveling options which prove accurate. My three other levels are the1) Anwenk Camera Flashlight Bubble Spirit level,2) Haoge 64mm Screw clamp for QR plate with a built in level3) Nikon D850 built in level.It is Saturday, the next morning after receiving my item and I contacted Amazon support. Support could not contact the manufacturer today. We'll try again tomorrow. Besides getting a properly mounted bubble level, I will be asking the manufactuer if there is a way to remedy the tightness.Wednesday 5/22/19 Today is the fourth day since first attempting to contacting Neewer.Things are resolved and turned out well. The Amazon support was great. My first contact was on a Saturday. Neewer was closed for the weekend and did reply to me by email on Tuesday afternoon Pacific Time. Because Amazon was also unable to contact Neewer, yesterday Amazon shipped overnight a replacement that arrived this morning. The replacement unit's bubble level is correctly mounted and checked out well, against other bubble levels. The tightness found in the first unit (which was sent back) was not present in this replacement unit. It was easy to move the level head when unlocked. My original 3 Star rating I've changed to 5-Stars for both the replacement product and the service follow up of Neewer and of Amazon's support team.
