This review is a little late since I was waiting to use it with a project... it was worth the wait for me!I shoot a lot of interviews on location for a client, and while I have two nice DSLR gimbals, they are overkill for this sort of run-and-gun work at events or on location. I had a chance to pick up the Comitok L7C Pro Gimbal Stabilizer with Magnetic AI Active Tracking and it punches above its weight. This looks and feels like a basic smartphone gimbal, and it should. But what sets it apart is that it all just works. The controls are laid out well, and the response is accurate and fast. The Gimbal Pro2 app was simple to pair and works fine.Even tough I worked with this new gimbal on a shoot, it was really easy to pick up and use. I need to experiment more with it though... I found that if I tilt forwards/backwards, the area of focus doesn't pivot back to its original position and orientation. There are different Focus Modes, so I'm likely using the wrong setting, but it's a little confusing right now. There is an included Fill Light that works with gestures... they call it "AI Tracking". You can activate the light on/off, and once the gimbal is on a tripod base (supplied), you can also use the setup to follow-focus on a moving subject. I tried it handheld and I think it makes more sense with a tripod for my setups. I wish the gesture control could adjust light levels and color temps, but the on/off worked fine. I also liked that the Fill Light unit is small and attaches with magnets. Power is supplied by pogo pins (simple pin contacts) between the gimbal itself and the Light unit. It's a very elegant solution. If you need a well-featured gimbal with nice controls and features, check out this Comitok L7C Pro!

I got this for a couple reasons. I am a teacher, and I teach a virtual summer STEM class. This will be awesome to use while I am teaching, as I will be able to move around instead of sit with the camera far away in order to see the entirety of what I'm doing. Also, I have an intern this semester, and she needs some recordings of herself teaching for her portfolio. First, this is made of very high quality materials. The detachable tripod has nonslip feet on it to keep it stable. I have an iPhone and they are heavy, and this had no problem staying in place as it was following me around. To be clear, this will not hold anything other than a phone, as the clamp is not large enough. Also, the instructions state to take your phone out of the case, and that is definitely necessary, as my phone would NOT stay in while in the case, and it barely clamped over the case anyway. The clamps do have a nonslip rubber feature for security. The tracking feature is a little separate piece that attaches via magnets on the side (as seen in photos), and the magnets hold strong. Some things to note:1. It does not work very well in low light settings. It will work, but it's not consistent.2. The selfie and rear cameras both work with this, but one works better than the other.3. You don't have to be facing the camera in order for it to track your movement, although it does have face recognition.I haven't used it in every way possible, but I think this will be a great tool, and can be used for many reasons, including vlogging and such.

I didn’t really know what a “Gimbal” was and kept hearing about how wonderful they are. I knew they helped take great pictures and during my travels I have seen people using them. I decided to take the plunge and order one. I’m glad I did!Not being the best tech savvy person, I was able to read the instructions and assemble it. The assembling of the Gimbal is super easy. I had to do a little work to learn how to operate it though. The instructions were not the greatest, but they are straightforward. I had to read the booklet a few times to understand how to use it. Once I powered it up, and started using the “joystick” on the device, that’s where all the fun began! While the Gimbal is on the tripod, you can get super smooth videos and photos and even pan a room or a landscape or any outdoor setting. The Gimbal literally glides and guides your phone to get video or photo angles that would be difficult to do by just holding your camera phone in your hand and trying to do it manually. Another nice thing is the Gimbal packs up well and does not take a ton of space when traveling. It charges quickly and all of the functions are at your fingertips - literally. Another nice thing is you have the ability to, instead of the tri-pod, you can grip the Gimbal in your hand and use the functions with your thumb. You can turn the Gimbal upright, upside down, to the side, and the camera phone will seamlessly adjust to your preference when shooting photos or videos.Lastly, the AI Tracking Module is super cool. You can use hand gestures to turn on face tracking, adjust the level of brightness, and more. The only comment I have for any changes would be to allow the smart phone holder to be able to accommodate a smartphone in the case. To use this, you have to take your phone out of the case, if you have one. Nevertheless, it’s a small inconvenience and pales in comparison to the Gimbal’s features and all that it does.I highly recommend this product. And especially for those who might be scared away by the technology. It is not as intimidating as it might look to operate. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll love it.

I like the AI tracker because it eliminates the need for a camera man or an expensive piece of hardware to track me. The 3-axis stability system is particularly impressive; it’s quick and responsive. The $30 discount made it the best gimbal option available, although it could have included a selfie stick or a tripod extension. Overall, it’s a solid mid-tier choice.
