-Blade Arcus is a spin-off fighting game based on the popular RPG series "Shining Hearts" which has had very few western releases. Most of the characters in the game are from previous shining games with the exception of 2 new characters created for the game. The main story in the game revolves around the two main characters Ryuga and Pairon, in between however there are many cameos in between fight rounds by other characters from prior games thrown in the mix to add variety to the story. The actual combat and gameplay during battles utilizes tag-based mechanics, where a player selects a main character as well as a secondary character (Tag partner). Players can only switch between the two different characters during rounds, but can also call on their partner for help using 'Link Attacks'. The only real weakness (disappointment for competitive players) of the game is not the battle system but the LACK of an online mode (NOT a typo) which may turnoff and annoy many but if you can look past that then you should be fine. Visually the game is the same as its PS3 counterpart however it is slightly sharper on the character animations and the loading times are much quicker than the PS3 version. This game definitely is for fans of the series and old school fighting game enthusiasts who don't mind if there isn't an online mode. Highly recommended.
