Pros: easy install, nice design, powerful sound, a few options for sound profiles.Cons: hdmi arc feature turns on tv randomly. The unit as a whole was a bit larger than I expected. Felt a bit overkill for my 42” tv in my apartment. The quality seems good and I liked how simple it was to switch from tv to Bluetooth. The major headache is that if connected via the hdmi cable, it would randomly turn the tv on. Using the optical cable avoided this issue, but then it would require me to use two separate remotes; which feels very counter intuitive to what a soundbar is supposed to be (easy).I have a Samsung tv and assume it’s some propetiery issue. If you search for this you’ll find many people with the same issue and both companies haven’t done much to address it.Bottom line is if you’re planning to use the hdmi arc connection do some research and make sure it plays nicely with your tv.
I have had this Sony sound bar now for approximately two weeks. After correcting a user error, the sub woofer was easily paired to the sound bar. I was initially disappointed with the bass from the sub woofer, but the more I have listened to it I can definitely say it does deliver. Overall it was a good value, and it was delivered on time. Also, it was packaged very well. It will allow you to pair 9 Bluetooth devices to it, which certainly allows for a lot of usage. I have it in my master bedroom, and I can say it is more than loud enough. One feature I like is you don’t have to use on and off button’s. So I can tell Alexa to pair to it, and it will turn on & pair automatically. Also, it does work with your devices such that when you turn the television off, it will also power off. For the price and the sound quality, you will not be disappointed.
This soundbar has really good sound and is super simple to set up and use. I downsized from a 7.1 surround setup (it didn't make sense for the space) but I don't feel we lost any sound, if anything the dialogue is enhanced. I bought this soundbar when it was on sale, but would have been happy if I had paid full price.
It's OK, I guess, if you are used to sound bars. I REALLY WANTED TO LIKE THIS TOO! .... Every setting I tried sounded so compressed and blah... No high end & the subwoofer is not impressive, even at full volume. We just installed a Samsaung sound bar & subwoofer in our twice as big living room that blows this away. Paid $230 - for it at Best Buy. This was installed with a 65" Sony in a 14.5" x 18.5" media room with carpeting & 8' ceilings. I will say though that set up was fast & easy & everything paired quickly. It did sound better with Pandora via Bluetooth when I turned up some Steely Dan than what I tested it on with the TV: sports, movies, news & movies. I will be sending it back & going back to my HK & Bose for a better sound experience. Just my thoughts. If you are interested in something that hooks up easily & sounds better than your TV speakers, this might be OK for you. If you want something more than average, I would suggest different options.
I was basically looking for a good sounding soundbar with a separate subwoofer. I didn't care if it hooked up with alexa or able to jump through hoops and this one fit the bill nicely. I have a Vizio soundbar with its own built in subwoofers that is absolutely fantastic but wanted one for a larger room that would provide even louder and deeper bass. Upon the easy hookup with the provided optical cable and first listen I was a little disappointed but knew speakers and especially subwoofers need breaking in time and after a few days now sounds great. This soundbar sounds as good as some of the soundbars selling for up to 600 dollars that I've heard at best buy. There is also no sound delay that some people have experienced with other soundbars. The voices are nice and clear and the bass while perhaps not subsonic can get loud and provides great impact to movies, enough to really startle you at times. I've also played concert dvds and blurays and can confirm music sounds good as well. If your able to as with any subwoofer you should experiment placing it in different locations in the room to see where it'll sound best where you'll be sitting at. At 279 dollars this is well worth it and a definite best buy at 198 dollars.
