Just got it in…time for a review!!I was excited to finally get my Zugu case in. Especially since I had one for my 2018 11in IPP. Case held up well and it was a no brained to buy this version for my 2021 12.9in IPP.Packaging: Good packaging. Box had a few scuffs and dents. Nothing out of the ordinary. Everything inside was pristine and unharmed. Shipping bright it to my door a full 3-4 weeks early. VERY NICE.The case itself is very similar to the prior models. Sturdy. Easy to hold. I feel like I can drop it and it will hold up just fine. Putting my IPP in was a breeze. Fit like a glove. Openings were positioned perfectly for speakers, ports, and buttons.Slot for my Apple Pencil is the same. Secured it easily and was charging once put into the slot. Small sleeve on the back to store when not using and not charging. Only gripe here is I can no longer use my sleeve for my Apple Pencil as it does not fit. Neither in the charging slot at the top nor the sleeve on the back. The magnet test is where I was disappointed. I realize the 12.9 is heavier than the 11, but I still expected the same ability to mount when needed. It works…sort of. As you can see from the photos, you need to position the magnetic “back flap” up in order to mount it via the magnets. If you just pull the cover for the front to the back and cover the flap, it will not hold up and slides off the surface. I was able to move the magnet flap first, then cover with the front cover, and it mounted. You can also just open the cover, let it dangle below, and mount as the pictures shows. All in all I am still very happy with the purchase. 5 stars hands down. Well worth it to protect your new IPP.
I have an Apple Magic Keyboard but I wanted something with bump protection when I was out and about with the iPad. Read a lot of positive reviews on the previous generation case and thought I’d give this a shot. It’s pretty much what I expected. Decent bump protection and a nice fit. I just wish that the stand had more vertical options. It looks to be at about a 25° tilt on the most vertical notch. I can get it to stay at about 20° but it’s not in a set notch. I would have preferred that it had notches up to 10°. I understand that there’s a physical limitation to the length of the kickstand but it has space to be about a centimeter longer so they should’ve used the entire space and given us more notches. Often times, I have the iPad perched on a high counter or table and having the option of a near vertical screen is nice. Meanwhile, I prop the bottom of the cover up with something to tilt the iPad forward when using this case. Although this case will allow the iPad to tilt back to 65° or even completely flat whereas the Magic Keyboard can only go back to about 40° so using the pencil on this case is actually superior.Overall, seems like a decent case for the money. It’s not super expensive and not really cheap and I feel like it’s worth the price.
If you are like me and always on a mission to find just the perfect case, well you can STOP looking. This is my 3rd ZUGU case and it is just as perfect just as the pervious versions.I surf nightly on my ipad and have tried many cases finding issues with each. I just love this case. The fit is fantastic. I love that it holds the apple pencil at the top and charges it with no issues. I like having the ability to adjust the viewing level based on what I am doing. I can't wait for more colors to come out. People complain about the weight but it really doesn't bother me. It is heavier than some cases but the functionality totally makes up for it. This will be the last case you need for your beloved ipad.
I don't review many products, so my apologies if this sounds like a rambling. TLDR: best case for iPad pro users that don't need a keyboard.I've had Zugu for my iPad Pro 12.9 2015 model for years. When I finally upgraded to the 2021 model, it was a no-brainer to go with Zugu again. Unfortunately, the case for the new model hasn't been released by the time I got my hands on the 2021 iPad Pro.I decided to order a different (cheaper) case to use in the mean time, thinking that "Hey, if this other case does at least half as well as the Zugu I'll just stick with it. After using that other case for a day, I decided to pre-order this Zugu case (which arrived 3 weeks ahead of schedule!!!).- Packaging: Superb. Very premium.- Case aesthetics/feel: Feels very well made and precisely conform to my iPad. The material is quite solid and does not bend much, unlike my other case which will bend so much that it will pop itself off my iPad (see pictures -- I'm holding both cases by the corner without an iPad inside, so the bend you see are under the cases' weight). Looks really good as well!- Case function:The edge of the case comes up over the edge of the iPad a little bit. This is just enough to hold the case in place when grabbed on the edges (my other case will slip out, which is very annoying and not secure). Note that this does NOT interfere with my iCarez matte screen protector in anyway. On the back, the case is slightly raised beyond the cameras. All buttons work with the case on.The kickstand is magnetic with 10 different angles to choose from and does not wobble at all. Another bonus is the form factor of the iPad will never be larger than the iPad itself. This is not the case for cases with tri-fold style stand (the folded stand will extend beyond the iPad). Very nice for my limited desk space.Case can also be attached to a fridge magnetically (see picture). I don't really use it this way, but its nice to have. The magnet is strong enough that my fridge will even move a little if I grab the case and pull away.So how good is this case overall? Well, it's good enough that I have spent the past two weeks being really annoyed that I would have to wait until the end of the month for this case. I felt like a little child when this case showed up 3 weeks early. :)
