A lid black cover/sticker was applied over the lid, with a crude square cut out for the Thinkpad logo. It seems to be made of cheap paper or thin plastic, and is easily scratchable with a fingernail. I have to assume there was cosmetic damage to the actual lid the refurbisher is trying to hide. The keyboard and monitor bezel is splattered with some kind of plastic or resin. It doesn't wipe or scratch off. The screen is free if the damage, so I have to assume the screen was replaced. The touchpad is stained by something that has actually discolored the plastic. It doesn't have a texture to it, so it was likely chemical in nature.I was expecting cosmetic blemishes, so it doesn't bother me too much, but I would have preferred a scratched plastic lid overto a sticker that probably won't last a month of regular usage before it starts peeling off, leaving me with a scratched plastic lid AND a mess to clean off.

I was hesitant to buy a used computer but I took a chance and am pleasantly surprised. The computer came in great working condition will little to no physical wear and tear. I will be looking outside the box more when it comes to buying computers now.

If I could give a zero star rating I would, but I did receive a "laptop", so I'll give them 1 star for effort. After receiving the laptop and booting it up, I was immediately hit with a notification that there were viruses on it. To my dismay, I tried multiple times to reinstall Windows OS, but the virus persisted and I was locked out of Windows Security. Any attempt to open "Virus and Threat Protection" led to a notification that I needed to contact my IT helpdesk. Thankfully I was using a throwaway Microsoft account because I was worried something like this could happen.I soon downloaded Malwarebytes to clean up the system, but new viruses constantly popped up, even after quarantining and removing the old ones. Luckily, Malwarebytes blocked risky websites, but at the same time I was bombarded by the sheer amount of outbound attempts. I was shocked that such a large seller could allow something like this to happen. The final straw was when I noticed that my Windows OS deactivated. I was no longer to access Windows-related services and my "Windows 11 Pro" switched to "Windows 11 Enterprise". After restarting the laptop, I was unable to sign in cause it required me to have a work or school account. Essentially, Compound IT sold me a bricked laptop full of harmful viruses. Let's just say I'm never buying a refurbished laptop again.I reported them to Amazon and Microsoft, but it was sad to see that Microsoft wanted nothing to do with it. I guess being a "Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher" means nothing, and Microsoft doesn't care if you use their name to take advantage of people looking for an affordable laptop option.Do yourself a favor and just go for a new laptop. It may be a little more expensive, but peace of mind is priceless. If you still want to risk a refurbished laptop, please download Malwarebytes. At the very least you'll get a tool that will let you scan your refurbished laptop for viruses that may be lurking. It takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch, and Compound IT doesn't mind ruining it for all the legitimate refurbished sellers out there.

I absolutely loved this computer. Great specs for a great price. It worked great. It looked good. Lightweight, nice screen, nice ports, good battery. But 143 days after purchase, it never started again (power button flashed slowly and nothing else when powered on). I treated it perfectly. It never had a power surge or rough handling. No spills or bumps. I took it to a repair shop. The motherboard was scorched. To add insult to injury, the hard drive turned out to be secured by a bit locker that I didn't even know about, so all my files are locked away and cannot be recovered. I didn't even know that was a thing that could happen. To lose a computer that was a huge investment (even at refurbished price) in a few months and not even have access to my files is crushing.Lesson learned. Buy the extra warranty, and backup everything. Beware the bit locker.(Giving four stars because it was really great while it lasted, but there is no reason it should have died like it did. Get the warranty.)
