I have owned the roborock E4 and Rumba I3 , roborock did a good job with a few issues, while the rumba didn't clean as well , but eventually stop cleaning, sent it back for repair, after awhile stop cleaning again. The roborock Q5 Pro (no self-empty dock) is a very improved machine, the room mapping functions well, much improved navigating around obstacles, the cleaning action is excellent, and the Roborock application has greatly improved, from connecting to wi-fi, to scheduling and to selecting rooms for cleaning. I did not intend to use the mopping function, but leaving the mop attachment on acts like a great dusting action on hardwood floors.

After using the Roborock Q5 Pro Plus for a while, I’ve got some mixed feelings. On one hand, it’s incredibly powerful, maybe too powerful at times. This vacuum will suck up childrens socks, and other large items without warning you. It doesn’t tell you when something’s jammed in the rollers, so it’ll just stop cleaning until you notice somethings wrong & check on it. You definitely have to keep an eye on it more than normal for a robot vacuum.Another thing to watch out for is the waste tray. While it does a great job picking up dirt and debris, it doesn’t always empty the entire tray automatically, so you’ll need to check and clear it manually from time to time. That said, when it’s working without interruptions, it cleans very thoroughly. The navigation is amazing, and it moves around the house efficiently. The app controls are a nice touch, allowing you to customize the cleaning schedule and set no-go zones, which is great if you’ve got certain areas you want it to avoid.Overall, it’s a good vacuum if you don’t mind checking on it fairly often. Just keep an eye out for it swallowing your socks!

I bought the Q5 Pro after my Neato D4 stopped working and after buying a iRobot i6.I quickly returned the i6 because it lacked mapping and no-go zones - which the Q5 has.The Q5 is a nice robot - once you run it for an initial mapping run, you can then set your zones, name rooms, and set a schedule. The suction is fantastic - my rugs are not deep shag, just 1/4 inch or so, and it cleans them so well.My favorite feature is the LIDAR - the map you get can be viewed 2D or 3D, and you can zoom in to adjust zones and put virtual walls.Battery life seems good - with about 12% drain after 400 square feet. This is with the rug cleaning suction set to a slightly higher level, I suspect it would use less battery if left on the default setting. The waste bin is easy to empty, as is removing the filter (which is washable BTW)Setup with my network took a bit longer than expected - mostly due to me not seeing a small dot that needed to be pressed to complete the connection to Wifi - this should be made clearer and larger in the app, because the Wifi setup has one huge "connect" button but the small dot is not obvious... but once I overcame my ignorance, everything worked perfectly.People has noted issues with 5G and 2.4 networks, but I think if you have a modern gateway and router you shouldn't have any problem with using both at the same time. Its voice is a bit harsh IMO, a softer female one would've been preferred, but that's not why I bought a robot vacuum. This does a great job of cleaning - noise is not bad at all, on hard floors all you hear are the brushes. When on carpet with the suction turned up it can be a little louder but not terrible at all. This robot blows away my old Neat D4, and IMO is much better than the iRobot i6.The i6 has slightly better build quality - that thing is a tank. The Q5 feels a little cheaper but that's only the flaw I can even think of. I'm happy with the Q5!thank you

UPDATE: I want to add a note about the mopping. While the mop unit is designed so that only the center of the mop pad directly receives water from the reservoir, I can tell you that 1) the whole pad gets damp, 2) in the pattern taken by the machine across your floor, each pass is about 6 inches from the prior path, meaning that there is significant overlap and it isn't relying on the whole pad being wet, and finally 3) I just watched it sweep and mop my floor and the entire floor was uniformly wet with no dry gaps.ORIGINAL: After we'd used the Roborock S7 in our home for a few days, my wife had the best description: "This is a game-changer." We have mostly wood floors with a few rugs, and ideally everything should be vacuumed or swept at least 3-4 times per week, but that's not realistic for us with our work and family schedules. With the Roborock, we can schedule daily cleaning for high traffic areas, and clean any area on demand when we see that it needs it.For me the number one reminder of the benefit of the machine is this: when it does a scheduled run in a room that already looks clean to my eye, the dust compartment is full of dust and dog hair that would have stayed on the floor had we not had the Roborock.PROS:Proficient at picking up dirt. Good reach into corners and under furniture (it fits under our couches, which are 4.5 inches off the floor).Good maneuver/obstacle logic that keeps it from getting stuck without causing it to miss areas as a result.Intelligent room mapping and navigation, with ability to edit maps according to your needs. The benefit of mapping is 1) the robot can work in an efficient pattern based on knowledge of walls and furniture, and 2) if you manually move the robot to a room, it can scan the area and figure out where it is.Very useful phone app that can be installed on multiple phones -- I'm generally not a fan of devices that require a phone but this one is working well (see wifi note in Cons section below).Relatively quiet; I'd say similar noise level to a dishwasher, not as loud as a standard vacuum.I'm going to express lukewarm support for the mopping feature. It's really more like wiping with a damp cloth. Certainly better than nothing, but if I hired someone to mop I'd probably give them a bit of side eye if they showed up with this.CONS:Dust bin on the robot is pretty small. During the first few cleanings I had to manually empty it a few times (not difficult) while cleaning a large room. But after the initial runs (when our house was CLEANER), we can rely on the auto-emptying in the dock. For reference, this morning I did our living room, dining room, and central hallway, and the bin was about 80% full when complete. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is no detection of the level of dust in the bin; you must pause cleaning and check it yourself if you think it might be full. There is no way to send it back to the dock for emptying, then resume the cleaning job it's doing. Returning to the dock requires it to restart the cleaning job. The building blocks are all there to incorporate this into a future version of the app (with the current app you can pause and resume the cleaning, or you can stop the cleaning and send it back to the dock. There needs to be a combination of the two that will pause the job, return to the dock to empty, then resume the job). That said, there's an easy workaround for now: schedule cleanings by room, and stagger the times so it returns to the dock between each room or group of rooms. This and any other home device requiring wifi access should be set up on a guest network to separate it from your computers and phones (most consumer routers can do this). Please note that Roborock is a Chinese company, and in China all companies cooperate with the government in the collection of data. This is a high-quality product that I recommend, but I'd prefer not to give them my home wifi password (the SSID and password are given to the robot during setup).
