BOSCH GLM165-25G 165 Ft Blaze Green-Beam Laser Distance Measure, Includes 2 AA Batteries, Belt Clip, & Pouch

I bought this for doing quick measurements for estimates. The laser is very bright and even works in sunlight. I have taken measurements up to 35 ft when it is sunny out. Battery seems to last fairly well, as long as you make sure and turn it off display is easy to read. Super small, easy to throw in a pocket and take wherever you need it.

The installer for my new garage doors had one of these and swears by it so naturally I had to have one. I am a 5 star self proclaimed DIY'er and love great tools. I have only bench tested this and not used it for construction yet but know the menu fairly well and am anxious to put it thru some rigorous testing on my next project. Shoot measurements all over the house and with an easy to see green dot on my target, this is giving me back very accurate measurements. Time will tell but I fully expect this tool to be a great addition to my collection of fabulous tools that will help me increase my accuracy and speed giving me a better finished product.

I'm a real estate appraiser and measure houses on a regular basis. I had an old Ryobi laser measurer which worked great, but sometimes hard to see with the red dot. I was looking for a new case for my old measurer, when I stumbled upon this green light one. I decided to give it a try and I really like it. I think the green light really is easier to see. I've had this for a few months now and have measured a few dozen houses and I think it was a great purchase. I bought the overly expensive battery pack for it too, which appears to be holding a charge pretty well.

The four stars is because of how bulky it is. The old Bosch laser was thinner and easier to put in my back pocket. This one is bulkier. It works great and I love the green light when measuring houses in the sun!

I have a 16 foot Fat Max, it still droops a bit over long distances. I've also got a fifty foot tape somewhere. Need to measure a room? Will that sofa fit? How much paint do I need? Is my ten foot ladder long enough? How far from the house to the back fence? How long is my driveway? This one is overkill for my actual needs, but I'm a fan of buy once, cry once.

WOW! I am so impressed with this thing. I should have bought one years ago! Haha just try to measure the height of a ceiling from the floor, in the middle of a room, with a measuring tape. :) The beam bounces off surfaces just fine. I bought it mostly for inside measurements. But I went outside to try measuring the width of the yard, by shining the beam at a wooden fence on one side. I first tried part way across and it worked! 142 ft. So then I went all the way to the fence on the other side to try measuring the full with. Display said "error"! I was thinking "yep, these things probably don't really go as far as they say". So then I walked forward to find the point where it would start measuring. Display lights up with "164.8 ft". Oops! :) The problem wasn't this unit, the problem was the yard was wider than 165 ft and I didn't know it. :P I think they have it cut off at 165 in software, knowing beyond that the accuracy would be less. Well was still useful, I just measured the remaining 12 feet or so of yard width with a tape measure. This works bouncing the beam off tree trunks, the chimney, brick, and of course inside wall surfaces. The green dot is easy to see, even at the 165 ft in the daytime. Having used this I'm skeptical I would have been able to see a red dot at 165 in the day. Impressed that it has a rubber gasket around the battery compartment door! Really is IP68. Super easy to use and figure out. I got it turned on and measuring without even reading the instructions year. The green button does both. The vibration feedback is great too, like a cell phone. The screen and bright and clear. Options for what it can do are awesome, length, area, cube....etc... This is a small item with big features. Comes with nice pouch that can go on your belt.
