bought this for a ball python, maintains temps at the highest 85 degrees despite following instructions. need it to be 90 and it just simply won’t budge, no matter what i do. also takes a long time to heat up. i live in cali so the environment isn’t the issue. i’d say if you need to maintain warm ambient temps it’s useful but otherwise id research (reddit) what heat supply best suits your animal and your enclosure, i wish i had did it more thoroughly and not wasted my time and money on a device that’s kind of subpar. there’s also a thing i read after purchasing where once you apply the heat mat it isn’t under warranty or something like that anymore, which is kind of weird too. Whatever, long as something need to be warm it’ll get the job done averagely enough.

Buy the temp controller with these and have a heat pad that last literally years! This one doesn't have a reptile brand name so I was nervous for no reason....this is my second order they work great. Thanks Amazon!

First, I’ve been a serious reptile keeper for over 40 years. I was a devoted customer of the reptitherm uth heaters since they first came out. About ten years ago, they started having quality issues. Very early element failure, extremely high sensitivity to moisture and adhesive issues. Now the reptitherm adhesive is so bad that they aren’t even worth the trouble. I bought four of these newer brand and am immediately impressed. First, the 3m adhesive. It’s absolutely what it should be. Seals and holds extremely well. Second the pad itself is much more flexible and pliable that the reptitherm, which is ridiculously stiff. And third, the element heats very quickly and very uniformly across the pad. I was hesitant at first, now I’m sorry that I wasted so much time and money on ill-placed brand loyalty. I’ll update this post if there’s any longer term issues (delaminating, failure, adhesive issues), but so far these are absolutely fantastic…

This heater works okay to keep the tiny habitat (12 x 8 x 8)" about 60 degrees. I still need to use a heater in the room. Since the Mantis does not hang out on the side with the heating pad, I assume it is warm enough. It certainly isn't too warm. One big problem is that it is not moveable. Once it is placed, it's stuck there for good. The other problem is that it has no temp control. So, I cannot turn it up or down at all. It's a very simple heater for a very small tank. It certainly would not warm a 10-20 gallon tank. This is more for a 5-qt tank.

Bought for my gecko and it was easy to stick on olus it never came off.Gets warm fast and it gets hot so just make sure to put a layer over it so your pet doesnt burn.Great quality and durable. The size is the main reason i bought it
