Having owned Gitzo tripods for years; I'm really impressed with the quality of this tripod for the price. The weight, features and quality build is really fantastic. Time will tell, but I think this is going to hold up to rigorous use. All for a third of the price of Gitzo!

While I originally thought that this TriPod was missing the right size screw this company stepped up and helped me identify the part and then went above and beyond to make sure I was a happy customer. So my only suggestion might be a little better instructions as to how to change out the screw. This company came through and I would definitely buy another unit from them.

This tripod and head are very sturdy, stiff and lightweight. Exactly what I was looking for in a tripod. I am using this with and 8x10 Chamonix camera with wet plate backs.

I have been shopping for a heavy duty tripod for outdoor photography. While my gear is fairly light, I wanted something that would minimize vibration and shake in the wind or shooting in water environments. The versatility of the tripod is excellent, It is solid, easy to adjust and setup, surprisingly light for the size. It has a nice carring case that I use when it's riding in the back of the car. The case will accommodate both the tripod and the matching ball head that I also purchased.I know that it is not a RRS tripod, but as an amateur photographer, it is an outstanding purchase for much less money.

At first I was disappointed, for reasons expressed in my initial review. But after discovering an easy and inexpensive fix, I am very happy with this tripod. So I changed my rating from 3 stars to 5 stars.It is extremely durable and makes a rock-steady platform for my telescope. While 5.5 pounds is a bit heavy for a carbon fiber tripod, the Weyllan LX9 more than makes up for the added weight by its robust build. I'm using it to carry a light load (of 10 lb.) but the ability to avoid, or rapidly dampen, vibrations is critical in astronomy. The Weyllan LX9 dampened induced vibrations to a second or less, even with the telescope operating at over 200 times magnification.The "fix" to my initial complaint was to cut off the 1/4" portion of the anchoring bolt and securing it with a weld nut. (See the last photo.)Initial review: What I like: 1) The tripod is very rigid, even more so than my Manfrotto 3058 heavy duty aluminum tripod, which weighs 17 lb.. 2) The legs are easy to adjust thanks to the smooth functioning of the silicon covered compression sleeves, and they lock in place with almost no effort. 3) Over all, the materials and workmanship seem to be first class and I am surprised the tripod costs as little as it does (approx. $300 on sale). 4) When mounting an asymmetric load, in which the center of gravity is decidedly off to one side, it is easy to rotate the top plate, before locking it in position, so that the off-set load is over one of the legs, and not between two legs. That significantly reduces the chance of the tripod falling over.Which brings me to what I didn't like: As you can see from the photos, the top plate is attached to a device (camera base, telescope mount, etc.) via a 3/8” - /1/4” reversible bolt. But that bolt needs to be secured to the top plate by screwing on the accessory weight hook beneath the top plate. The hook extends one inch below the top plate, making it impossible to stand what ever the top plate is attached to in a vertical position. It has to lie on its side - Defeating The Major Advantage Of Having A Removable Top Plate. Hence my 3 star rating. - If I can find the right size hex nut, I can cut off the 1/4” end of the bolt and the remaining part will then be just short enough to be able to place the top plate and it’s load upright when not sitting on the tripod. If not, I will have to send this nice tripod back to Amazon.
