X670E-E Purchased brand 1 year after launch about 2 weeks after X870 launched. Tried to save $60.I have been building custom PC's and custom loops for 10 years. Lot's of experience & lots of extra parts in my shop for troubleshooting.--This build--X670E-E7800X3DG. SKILL 6000mhz CL30 32GB3090 FE1200W CORSAIR PLATINUM RATED PSUSAMSUNG SATA SSD 2.5TBT7PRO PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSD 2GBT300 PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD 2GBPSU, GPU & Samsung SSDs were removed from a perfectly normally operating machine and had been in working order for multiple years prior to this review.Assembled on an open air test bench (cardboard edition) to test components before constructing a new hardline custom water loop. I started off with a Corsair Dominator RAM kit of the same specs. 4800mhz RAM and stock everything else other than disabling Secureboot and making EUFI the windows shell mode. Updated BIOS to 2404 on first boot. Installed Windows 11 with all necessary drivers installed from a USB on first login and disabled Bitlocker. Ran 30 min of Cinebench R23 and 30 min Prime 95 without crashing, albeit there were a few seemingly small problems. Occasional screen flicker through mobo HDMI & system was hanging a little bit here and there but it did not crash. Looking back I think it crashed while installing Windows, but it restarted without me noticing and resumed right where it left off so I thought nothing of it.Set up rest of PC and built loop. After full completion I booted it up, only to get stuck in a boot loop. Had to hard shut down but eventually got back into Windows. This is when it began to BSOD anywhere from 5 min to 1 hour of uptime. I was getting BSOD codes from so many different random reasons I didn't know where to begin looking. It was like a piñata of BSOD codes.Troubleshooting Steps Taken1. Swapped RAM DIMM Slots2. Ran off one stick of RAM. Tried both sticks.3. Changed RAM kit to G. Skill of same specs. Tried single stick operation.4. Tried new PSU (confirmed 100% operational)5. Tried new GPU (confirmed 100% operational)6. Tried installing Windows 11 on 4 different drives. 2 of which are 100% operational.I did not have another AM5 CPU at the time to slot in. Generally CPU would be the least likely item to be deflective so I will not test with another confirmed operational chip until everything else has been ruled out to prevent the possible destruction of a perfectly good AM5 chip due to ASUS having terrible QA.Swapped to an X870E-E board and all problems went away. I had done a Cinebench R23 run on the X670E-E that scored 15,000. Scored just shy of 18,000 on the X870E-E. That is way too much of a gain for it be a mobo generational improvement. Especially when the X670 and X870 are using the same exact chipsets.From my tests and other users similar issues with the same board over the entire lifetime of this boards manufacture I was able to deduce that ASUS X670 boards have inferior RAM engineering and trace setups. This led to instable memory issues, even on board approved kits. The RAM itself was completely fine so it would pass Memtest.Also the Intel LAN and WiFi on this board are absolute trash and should be avoided like the plague.Just spend the extra $60 or w.e. it is right now and get the X870E-E if you want to be fancy or go with a B650 if you want to save money. Don't be like me and try to be slick going somewhere in between.ASUS please get your QA act together. If I had issues with the X870 it was going to be the last thing I ever purchased from your company.

November 4th, 2024:I know ASUS gets a lot of smack, but this update is worth sharing because for the past two months, I’ve been dealing with my USB ports randomly dropping out and ended up sending my motherboard back to them twice. The whole process was pretty smooth; you do have to cover shipping, but I got mine back in about a month each time, given that it came back from Taiwan!Both times, the board passed stress tests. The second time, the factory even included a note saying they ran it through an hour-long stress test with everything they had, and it still checked out. Their service definitely deserves some appreciation, even though it was frustrating when the issue persisted after getting the board back.Fed up, I decided to troubleshoot every again. I unplugged everything while running the system live, then powered down and reconnected only the basics—mouse and display. This took about three hours. I tested it by running Reason 13 with my Volt 476 plugged in via USB-C while playing CS2.After sometime and literally staring at it for awhile, I noticed the Corsair Link light blinking from green to red. A quick look on ChatGPT > known firmware glitch. So, I unplugged the Corsair Link and to be sure I started testing each piece of gear one by one, turning the system off and on. Yesterday, November 3rd, my setup is finally stable.To anyone using Corsair Link, it’s bugged. If you have older peripherals connected to USB2, they might struggle with newer systems' power capabilities. If you’re seeing dropouts, try unplugging from those USB2 ports first.Huge thanks to ASUS support and engineers for taking care of my stuff, even though it was working fine. I understand there are systemic issues that have been reported and that’s a work in progress, but credit is due when you spend two months trying to troubleshoot a product with a positive attitude, finding the issue by relying on the factory for diagnostics and testing, then looking at your own setup with an outside-the-box perspective. Breaking it down to its basics and testing without worrying about breaking anything.With my experience, I am even more confident recommending this board. It’s robust and can take a beating. I took it out and reassembled it so many times, testing live, powering on/off, plugging and unplugging every port constantly. After all this, it feel like I just unpacked the thing.Original:Really enjoyed rebuilding my 10 year HAF with Risen 9 and X670ee motherboard. Love the build quality and features. Particularly like having two Gen5 PCI-e x16 slots and be able to move GPU away from CPU cooler. Initialization and bios setup was easy. Small issue with sound, but fixed with AI noise cancelation extension. Great motherboard overall. Underrated!! Highly recommend!

I bought this mother board from Amazon to complete my PC build. Works as expected for 2 weeks now, no issues. First this I did was BIOS update, it allows you to do it via USB flash drive, without boot. Then I started PC, it reboot itself couple of times and was ready to install OS. First boot took some time. EXPO works without any issues so far on the highest supported frequency.I am using G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 96GB (2 x 48GB) DDR5-6400 PC5-51200 CL32 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit (F5-6400J3239F48GX2-TZ5RK) for 2 primary slots.Motherboard has plenty of connectors, I was able to attach everything without any issues. I can recommend checking extra GPU brackets if you have any, as it appears you need to install them before you install motherboard. Luckily my case had an alternative way to support enormous GPU, so I did not need the stock GPU one.
