I installed this as a pool timer to replace my old mechanical one. Installation was easy, and the instructions accurate and well written. Unfortunately, the app it uses is a "ECO Plugs" app and not the same Dewenwils app as their other product I have purchased (pool light). This means yet 1 more smart home app to deal with and if you try to use the Dewenwils app, it won't work. Oh, and this device only supports 2.4GHz wifi. If you have a Mesh wifi system like eero, you need to turn on "classic mode" on the eero to get this to connect. (this mode disables 5GHz radio for a short period of time to allow 2.4GHz only products to connect)

Installed it yesterday to regulate my pool pump and set daily on and off times throughout the day and for all intent and purpose the smart box works perfect so far mechanically!! There is a single on/off button and it works greatGetting the smart box online to wi-fi through the ecoplugs app was not too bad the app took me to the main page where I was able to create schedules and and also turn on/off the pump..After creating the schedule i closed the app (where the trouble started) opened the app again and back to default and the app will not relink to the smart box even after reset.. however I did notice my schedule did save from my first setup so I just ended up leaving it as is and so far it's goodLong story short the app is garbage and should not be used as a remote on/off switch because of its constant disconnect however as a preset timer "set it and forget it" it should be perfect since it keeps what schedule you put on it even after garbage app fails..There is another app that is also garbage that works with this (wion) Its just as bad but gives me hope that a good app is possible in the futureAs odd as it is to be able to recommend this device with the terrible app issues I can say it is still a good device as a programmable timer at $70 it is leaps and bounds above the standard pool timer that is literally the same price. My recommendation is to purchase this as a one time setup configure and forget device just program all your on/off settings the first time and don't expect to remote use it otherwise expectations will not be met however for me it works good at a price that is fair (so far anyway) I will post updates in a few weeks

For my application I am using this for a pool pump. It works great. At first the wire diagram was somewhat confusing but easy enough to understand once you take a deep breath and look at it again it’s not as complicated as it looks on paper. The timer function is awesome. At first I thought it wasn’t working. Contacted support they got back to me quickly. Turned out one of the questions they asked me caused me to look in the settings and there was my problem. I forgot to turn on the setting for day light saving time. So the timer was actually working it was just going on an hour later then the time I set. Easy fix and was my own fault I just assumed when it asked my location it factored all that in on its own. As one reviewer stated the app is rather outdated looking. That being said it’s a switch on or off and a timer setting. I don’t know what more you want from the app prettier buttons to push. I don’t understand that complaint. If it to hard on your eyes you can use an Alexa or hey google command and or even home assistant to control the device.

***update 8/8/2020***After struggling to get 2 different units working, I purchased a GE unit (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YTCZZF0/) and swapped it in place of the Dewinwils unit. No change to the wiring at all. As soon as the GE unit kicked on I was immediately able to connect it to my SmartThings hub, and had instant control over the device. The GE unit is considerably more money, but let me tell you this - it worked right out of the box, no fuss. The Dewinwils unit doesn't look ready for prime time.To be fair, they finally did reach out to me by email, but the entire troubleshooting regimen they prescribed I had already done exhaustively myself. I weighed out the benefits too - even if through exhaustive troubleshooting they were able to make it work, how often would I have to mess with it in the future to keep it running. No thanks guys. Please work on the out-of-the-box experience, so many people in the reviews here complain of having to vigorously troubleshoot to get and keep their units running, that isn't going to fly - especially for a device to enable automation! We want this stuff to work every time!I'm usually very patient when it comes to electrical wiring projects like this, but this one has me ready to give up. I ordered this item to power my pool pump, which is a Hayward 1 horsepower 120 volt pump. By all means this unit checks all the boxes I'm looking for in a pool timer, I just cannot get it to work. The wiring for this thing is simple enough, and I don't think there is anything wrong with my wiring connections. As soon as I apply power to the device, the Wi-Fi light starts flashing and I attempt to connect my cell phone to it to begin setup. As soon as I establish the initial connection the Wi-Fi light goes out, and my phone drops the connection immediately. Afterwards the Wi-Fi light will come on and stay on solid, and then it will begin flashing and then it will go out and it keeps doing this over and over and over again. I cannot maintain a connection to this device for more than a second or two, so I can never complete the setup. The manual power button will work to turn the pump on only when the Wi-Fi light begins flashing. Within seconds the Wi-Fi light turns off, the pump will run for about 5 Seconds and then shuts off. I can turn the pump on with the manual power button anytime the Wi-Fi light is flashing, but when the Wi-Fi light is solid or when the Wi-Fi light is off the manual power button does nothing.I'm frustrated and cannot seem to figure this thing out at all. I emailed support but they haven't responded to me in days. I want this thing to work, but I am losing hope. If I can't figure it out in a day or two I'm putting it back in the box and sending it back.
