I still have a few pairs of 514's purchased 5 - 7 years ago. Compared to the older ones, these have a lower rise and are less comfortable in the crotch area. Otherwise, the cut is okay and the sizing is accurate. Also, the denim material of the old 514's are thicker and still going strong after several years of wear and washing. These new ones are thinner, so time will tell how they hold up. But to be honest, I don't want to ding Levi's too much on this point because I've noticed quality has gone down across the board (Lee, Wrangler, etc.) lately. Seems like the time of getting a solid/durable pair of jeans for $30 - $40 has passed.
