Cons:The language of this book is complex and if you are taking the CAPM exam and using this book as only guide it may be tough as the terminologies in this book are the same but the language is very different. The book also needs practice quizzes or work examples to try from.I would recommend this book for overall current project management methodologies and practices but not as a study guide for an examPros:The visual graphs and pictures in this book are stunning and are easier to understand than the actual words. Overall the book is good but not great for beginners. I passed my CAPM with the outdated 4th edition of Joseph Phillips CAPM/PMP Certification all in one which helped me more then this book but this book was essential for me since it covered Agile processes which you'll need to know

If your into consulting, than this book is for you. I can’t put the book down as I find it so interesting. Filled with great information about a project manager’s job as well as all the resources and intellectual properties one needs to succeed in project management. I will read this book twice and always have on hand as a resource to look back upon. This is an educational book that has tons of information that will make you a great project manager and consultant. This is not the only book you need to study with though. I read the book and took some practice questions and got them all wrong. This will not prep you for the exam alone. Also, don’t waste your money on the 35 hour training with PMI. It’s not worth it!

My husband is taking his PMP soon, and he wanted a book to read and underline as he studies. He ended up taking a course online, but he refers to things in this book constantly. It's a great one...and probably the gold standard for information for this test.

I havent taken the PMP test yet, but wanted to provide feedback.There are two sets of page numbers, and in my opinion, it should have been a continuous numbering sequence and not 1-67 for The Standard for Project Managemt and then 1-274 for the PMBOK guide. Depending on how you learn and IF you use a 3rd party education program that references the book, it can be difficult to know which "page 22" for example.

I purchased this book as I prepared to take the CAPM exam in 2023. I also took a 40 hour CAPM class before taking the exam so that helped me prepare. It was helpful for me, I passed the test on the first take.

The PMBOK is a thin guide that can be read in a short amount of time. To pass the exam the key really is taking practice exams & studying the areas you are weak in. If you join PMI as a member you are given the PMBOK Guide free. I learned that late after already purchasing the guide from Amazon.
