I get tired of googling unreal docs that have only overview level information and youtube videos for one little detail that i need. I look through this book continually and use the index weekly. The author uses real projects that you can start from unreal starter assets and free marketplace downloads. I have not done any of those as the blueprint examples and explanations are detailed enough that when i come back months later i can see and understand more on each page. A great way to evolve your process and see where you have been. I scribble all over the margins and see what an idiot I am later! :)

This is an AMAZING guide. Hands down! I have spent the last week watching Youtube videos that didn't really help, they have their place, but they can be super confusing. This written manual is step by step and I am absorbing so much new knowledge for Unreal 5. Thank you again! I really appreciate your hard work. Make sure to continue releasing updated manuals and I will continue being a customer. Take care!

As a newcomer to both Unreal Engine 5 and C , I was looking for a comprehensive guide to familiarize myself with the Blueprint visual scripting language. Although lacking in some areas, this book largely fulfilled its purpose and working through the FPS project was both interesting and rewarding. My only real issue was that there were a handful of instances throughout the book where you're told what to do to accomplish a given task, but there's little to no explanation as to how each step / node in the process is actually contributing to the whole. This made some of the examples less helpful (at least for me), as it was difficult to apply these lessons when experimenting with cases that were similar yet not identical.

After buying 8... or so books on Unreal Engine can say this is best blueprint book I have. 1. Blueprints are readable in book. This is no joke issue several other most other books the blueprints are grainy black and white. Or so tiny the print press was not able to print the text in nodes. I used a shop magnifier on other books even zoomed in the details were unreadable. 2. Would say decent enough explanation of WHY something is being done versus just do this or do that. Which is a huge problem with UE tutorials. I'm half way in about to start on more advanced topics. Will comment further as to how well that goes. Expensive book I feel like removing star from 5 but won't since its 550 something pages double size most other books.Note: Keep away from some of the older blueprint books the images are completely unreadable, and the code spills over to following pages which this author did no do. A function's code for example is contained on one page. So far so good.Edit as promised reviewing second half book , harder to cover the other more advanced topics but still gave good starting points and overview. Of the 6 books I have this is best blueprint one.

Time saver: I added an image that shows how to setup the subtraction from the player's current ammo in BP_Weapon_Component Blueprint. More importantly, it shows how to get Make Noise (page 272) to work when you fire the gun (UE 5.3). In the Stamina Drain Macro you just need to drag from Noise Maker and get a reference to Self. Also worth noting, I am not sure why on page 273 for the Make Enemies Destructable they went with Get Actor Transform and Spawn Actor Blueprint Effect to play the explosion blueprint. At this point, you have all the tools you need to make it so that when the zombie is killed it plays a death animation and then after a few seconds disappears. It took me about 30 minutes to figure that out based on what the book had previously taught.I also added an image of the Sprinting with Enhanced Input inside the BP_FirstPersonCharacter blueprint and what that will look like. You will still need to do a little bit to get that set up beyond that.Pros:This book offers clear and logical guidance, starting with an overview of the tasks ahead and providing step-by-step instructions. Additionally, it includes high-quality blueprint images to aid comprehension. For those with a computer science background, this resource effectively bridges the gap between your skill set and the practical application of blueprints in an object-oriented programming (OOP) context.Cons:One notable drawback is that the book is based on an earlier version of Unreal 5, predating the current version 5.3.2. As a result, readers may encounter some challenges in following along and may need to engage in problem-solving. However, with perseverance, it is possible to troubleshoot independently. It's worth noting that familiarity with Enhanced Input is required, as it is not covered in the book.
