Like everyone has said this is a really good streaming device with its own storage via external device method or buying a ssd for the internal one. Lots of both input and output options. Its processor is fast enough to handle my big library compared to the FiiO r7 which stalls badly. Originally I would have given a 4 star. It has two minor issue that make it hard to go to 5 stars. Playlist names are limited to around 16 characters, it recognizes Apple protected music but can’t play it unless from airplay. Since I’m not using my Apple Music acct anymore, need to erase them which is easy enough. I can’t find where playlist are stored. So I can save them external in event I have to reset the player. Also my existing playlist from my Sony dap can’t be used. Recently, I had trouble with my WiFi router and may have to replace it. From setup, I cannot find a way to change the router. I find an obscure method in the manual that may work. Not sure, I haven’t tried it yet since it may reset my playlist as well. The is away to put it in andriod reset mode. They only mention cache reset and factory reset. Not sure if WiFi router reset is also there, not mentioned (their own custom version of andriod anything goes). Resetting the cache could clear the router id, not sure. Could also clear all my playlist as well. For this reason, I am downgrading my review to 3 stars.

This thing screams if you have a MB that supports Gen5 Pcie. Windows 11 boots almost instantly and DCS World(flight sim) loads super fast. I'm not sure how I lived with an old 7200rpm HDD for as long as I did but this was a worthy upgrade for my new PC build. I will probably be adding a 2TB version of this sometime in the future as Im already using almost half of the drive space(DCS World takes up a bunch of space). Long story short: If you have a Gen 5 Pcie MB then you need this drive.

It's a ok M.2 Gen 4 is faster than this one and this is supposed to be Gen 5.

Very easy to install, gone are the days of running spare wires and looking for cases with extra storage for hard drives. Boots very quickly, I got it on sale so the price point was stellar.

Purchase the "Pro" series to allow overprovisioning and other advanced features.

First, PCI-E gen 4 and 5 support in one drive mean it can do the same speed in 2 5.0 lanes as it does in 4 4.0 lanes, meaning as we go forward to newer CPUs and chipsets, this type of drive will transition well and use less resources to do it.The 5000 MB/s seems low given 10K drives exist, but that's the Sequential read speed, rated using ideal conditions. The GREAT majority of stuff we actually DO with computers uses far more Random Access, and those numbers are much lower pretty much across the board. This drive is in the top 3 fastest, hitting over 5000 MB/s in RANDOM reads.The practical upshot of this is - if you are moving a lot of big files, this drive will be fairly average and get toasted by the fastest drives out there, no question. It wont be SLOW, but it wont be able to move stuff around your PS5 at 7GB/s either.On the other hand, this will feel like the snappiest drive ever for an OS/data/programs drive. The random read and Overall System numbers in PC Mark are in the top 5 of all consumer M.2 drives out today, in the top 3 for pure random reads. This metric has traditionally been played down if its mentioned at all, because it is SO much lower than the Sequential Read numbers, but it is probably a far better indicator of how a system will "feel" when using the drive for actual work/play/GPs, and this one is extremely good at this.I have run the PC Mark suite a few times each on Intel 460, 570, and 790, with the 790 using PCI-E 5.0x2, with extremely consistent results.Easily the best system/general data drive for the price, and its not even a question at this point. I purchased this SSD to replace my laptop SSD. The SSD that I replaced was the Samsung EVO 970.The EVO consistently operated at 60 to 70 degrees Celsius. This is to hot for the life expected of the SSD.The EVO 990 operates at 40 to 43 degrees Celsius, a vast improvement. I expect it to outlast the life of the laptop.Great SSD, I recommend it highly.
